I have been reading the postings for feeders and I have made my choice. I am going with Aquapro`s ADF-75DP. I would like to buy from someone from the forum first before going to "Outdoors for less". They have a great buy going on now for $360.00 for feeder, battery, upgraded timer and solar panel included. I am not looking for a bidding war just trying to be true to this site.

what is shipping charge? many of the low ball prices are great then they make money by charging more on shipping. I match national sale price ( look in curent PB issue) $399.99. thanks

I purchased 2 Stren feeders from Greg Grimes. They were purchased at different times. I have found the feeders to be excellent and Greg has treated me good. No problems with the feeders and I understand they are now called Aquapro.

ejrfan, I took a look at the site. The description calls for special version f-24DT timer. These are the old style timers and not the new timers sold today. The new timers are PT-6 and have motor speed adjustment and separate test button. Maybe they just have not updated website, I know I haven't, but would not buy unless the new version. Hope that helps with decision.

I did have the old version of the timer and my rep had to switch me to the new style after it failed. It was my understanding that there was a recall of sorts because the company sent out adapters packages and such. I'll bet you'd be happier overall going with Greg. Just MHO.

I also recently was in the market for 3 fish feeders for my lake and I researched BOTH the Sweeney and the Aquapro for myself to see what all the differences would be. Boy was I supprised at the cost difference between the two. I went with three of the Aquapro Fat Cat's. The cost of one Sweeney comprable units was the same as two of the Aquapro units and the waranty is 4 years so you guys sold me. I highly reccomend these to anyone looking for great service as well as ease of operation.

Greg has sent me an e-mail and will giving me a quote soon. I have done the research and I think you are right to go with Aquapro. Do you have yours set up yet? My gills started eating at the last warm-up and my LMB have also started this week. I havent set-up my old feeder yet and hope to buy Gregs feeder soon. Let me know.

Yes my wife helped me set them up over the weekend and they were very easy to set up. Also very easy to get up and running. I was worried that I might have problems understanding how to work the timers but they were easy to work. Yes the fish are starting to get the hint and it looks like a feeding frenzy on the water when they go off!!

"Native Outdoor feeders."
Could you provide some info on these? Not sure I've ever seen. Care to comment on Sweeney vs. Aquapro.
Local weather predicting 50% rain for this weekend. With 8+ acres of DRY lakebeds (recently completed) I'm dancing, praying, and lighting candles...

Hey Al, we also have good rain chances this weekend. We had the same chances last week. When I hit the country last weekend, I found one drop in the guage. However, it has been pretty hot lately and I am hoping the other drop may have evaporated.

700,000 acres and 7 lives lost this week to Texas fires. Keep on dancing.

Greg, you stated that the ADF-75DP from Outdoor For Less possible uses the F-24DT timer, and that the ones with the new PT-6 would be a much wiser choice. Since I was also looking at that feeder, what are the advantages of the PT-6 over the older F-24DT. I have heard good and bad stories on the older ADF-75DP, is it now a better unit with the PT-6. Has anything else changed on this unit besides the timer? Dont want to sound picky but I would like a worry free feeder is possible.

I just hooked up a new PT-6 to replace the photocell PCB in my Kensco(Native Outdoors) unit.
The PT-6 works on 6 or 12 volts. Has up to 6 feedings, variable motor speeds for varying the distance thrown, 0-30 second feedings, automatically selects working voltage and monitors battery condition with a battery symbol.
Very nice.

Ok, first I doubt they have that timer I think it is a misprint on their site. I'm confused myself on whats what but they only sell ADF-75D with now with LPAD timer. So here goes my take on new timer advantages. It has a battery indicator level. And it has adjustable motor speed. It also has a separate test button.

I understand you want a worry free feeder. I think all you can ask is to have a good warranty that is backed up "if" you ever have trouble. The aquapro folks have that with their 4 yr. warranty.

I would like to add this to the discusion. Outdoors for less is now selling the new models, I think, there prices went up anyway. When I first checked them out they had the old model as Greg said earlier. Greg`s price is the same as theres but I feel better buying from Greg due to this site.

Hello All,

I know I am a fingerling here, but I felt that I must repond to this.

ejrfan says he is in the market for our feeders.

Then Greg Grimes says: "what is shipping charge? many of the low ball prices are great then they make money by charging more on shipping. I match national sale price ( look in curent PB issue) $399.99. thanks"

Our Reply: We charge actual shipping charges only. No Markup on freight. No hidden charges. Finda better deal on our products and we will beat it. erjfan, we wish you had called.

Greg Grimes then says: "ejrfan, I took a look at the site. The description calls for special version f-24DT timer. These are the old style timers and not the new timers sold today. The new timers are PT-6 and have motor speed adjustment and separate test button. Maybe they just have not updated website, I know I haven't, but would not buy unless the new version. Hope that helps with decision."

Our Reply:
Our site used to state: That the ADF75D and FATCAT were equipped with a special version the F24DT digital timer for precise regulation of feeding cycles. The unit is capable of up to 8 feeding periods per day. Each feeding can vary in length from 1-90 seconds.

Our site now states: That the ADF75D and FATCAT are equipped the LPAD digital timer designed specifically for two motor feeders: the ADF75D and FATCAT. This timer is capable of up to 8 feeding periods per day. Each feeding can vary in length from 1-90 seconds. This timer includes Battery Status Indicator and Test Button.

Welcome Greg to Pond Boss. I have been to your web site and looked at your feeders. I will probably order one someday but for now I am enjoying feeding by hand. I sure that will get old someday. You should put a advertisement in Pond Boss Magazine where you will reach thousands of pond owners just like me that will be in the market someday. It would help keep the magazine and this forum in business. If you have read much here, you will understand why we are so loyal to both. \:\)

Continuing from above:
The LPAD timer does come with a speed adjustment. But, the speed adjustment is for the motor that drops feed down the chute not the motor that throws food out into the lake. The manufacturer suggests that the spped setting on the LPAD be left on low.

As far as pricing goes, we are very competitive on the delivered price.

Please see: Stren AquaPro Feeders to view our pricing. Freight charges are posted in the checkout process before any personal credit card information is entered. Credit cards are accepted online or you may order by phone 877-908-5921.

Please see: Texas Hunter Products if you are interested in a quality alternative to Sweeney Feeders. This is a directional feeder developed by individuals who used to work at Sweeney.

I hope this information helps y'all in making decisions on which feeders to buy.

PondsForFun,

Thanks for the welcome. We are in the process of advertising with Pond Boss. I have enjoyed the magazine in the past. I hate to admit that I am not a current subscriber. Where do I sign up for the magazine?

Greg

Greg M :

Welcome to the PB forum. I think you will like the Forum and the mag. I thought you might like to read this link about how the forum works as it concerns sales, advertising and PB supporters. I realize you were not trying to sell anything above. \:\)

Ewest- Thanks for the welcome.

PondsForFun- I just subscribed to Pond Boss Magazine with back issues!

(To Whom It Concerns at Pond Boss: I have a PayPal account, but lots of people do not and will not set one up. You are probably missing many sportsmen who would enter a credit card to purchase subscriptions.)

I am awaiting a return call from Pond Boss concerning advertising.

I will abide by forum rules. A customer called and said we might want to read the forum and respond to the postings.

Greg Grimes raised the issue of our pricing and freight charges, so I felt it warranted a reply: \:D

PayPal is a difficult company to deal with, I can't call an 800 number and had to do business with them via email. They would not respond unless I emailed ebay first. My experience caused me to stop using both ebay and PayPal. Before I encountered difficulties with them, as a buyer, they were a perfect match for ebay. But, like many monopolies customer service is not job one.
