ML, My 7 year old Grandson (Partner) and I are leaving in a couple of hours for a 2 day hunting trip to our place. Heck, the deer have mostly become nocturnal but neither of us will consider it wasted time.
Greg, when you get to that point, don't forget to take along comic books, Game Boy, and junk food. Kids can only sit still for just so long. Oh yeah, since I don't figure you will wait until they get older, don't forget extra diapers and wipes. When fishing, pick a place with lots of convenient rocks for chunking into the water. Show him/her how to skip a rock and forget about catching fish. It ain't gonna happen.
Deb, I hope your Dads health improves and can pass on the memories to your son that he did with you. At 63 YOA and 6 Grandchildren, I still think about and try to pass on my Grandparents value systems.

Thank you Dave. Daddy is already doing much better, just tired a lot. With Ryan's father (my ex) only keeping Ryan 3-4 nights per month, "ganddaddy" (that is always how Ryan has pronounced it, no r) is his father figure. I had hoped my ex would have stepped up to the plate after the divorce, but with a 22 year old girlfriend he just does not seem to have the time. Mom and dad on the other hand live only five miles away, and "nana" (my sister Sandra) lives only 1 mile away. Family has always been VERY important to me. My parents celebrated their 44th anniversery in July, and Ryan is the only grandchild. My multiple surgeries, In-Vitro to have Ryan, then an emergency hysterectomy when Ryan was 6 months old pretty much means he will be their only one. My sister suffers the same medical issues I had, and at 38 she is unmarried and still focusing on her PhD. Then again I might find myself adopting one day, you never know. Ask Ryan who his buddy is and he will tell you "ganddaddy". Skipping rocks on the pond (like Dave said) is an everyday thing after mom picks him up from daycare. Daddy tried to get him a Scooby Do rod-and-reel combo for his first Christmas, but seeing as how he was only 10 months old mom managed to stop that. But this year... he is getting that rod-and-reel as well as a $200.00 John Deer battery operated tractor with pull behind trailer. This of course does not include the Thomas the Train stuff, the Wiggles DVD's, the books, ... I asked mom the other day why I only remember getting silly putty and play-Doh. She just shrugged her shoulders and grinned. Merry Christmas to everyone! Heck we are all kids at heart anyway (especially you guys).

Deb and others : From one who knows -- take the time to spend with ageing parents ( same for grandkids and children) while you can tomorrow is sometimes to late. My dad died at 63 when I was 33. That was 17 years ago and I still miss him.

Thank you ewest, you are exactly right. By the way you just made me do something I don't do often (cry). Like I said before, the thought of losing dad (and mom) is almost unbearable. Same goes for Ryan. This is the time of the year when emotions run high, and memories are vivid. We should all be thankful for the time we have here on this earth, and for the people we spend this time with. It goes without saying that this forum is an extended family for a lot of people. This should be kept in mind when we get upset or frustrated making posts. There may come a time that we can't take a comment back. I am giving you and others a virtual hug right now... Have a very Merry Christmas and above all stay safe.

As has been often said a typed message or a joke on the e mail can be so misunderstood because we are unable to read the facial expressions which means so much in understanding each other. If I was a betting person which I am not, I would say that most misunderstandings are because of this situation. Many of you that get in these situations,I have e mailed and found you to be extremely nice people. Yes it bothers me at times to read some of the comments that could hurt others. I also am not good at expressing my self on the computer and I make many word errors unintentionally. No my english and spelling is not the best and I always hope to be accepted as I am. thanks---have a very Merry Christmas

I have one BG and 2 mudcat in a 10-gallon aquarium. Be sure to get some AmQuel plus at the pet store in the fish section. That automatically removes nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, chlorine and other harmful stuff.
I used to keep an ammonia test kit handy, but just add the AMQuel plus once a month and never have to worry about it.
Incidentally, I had to move my mudcat into the aquarium with the BG when I caught a crawfish and put it in the tank. The crawfish made a meal of the first catfish he came in contact with and was heading for more.
The crawfish has molted at least four times since the summer and is approaching gumbo or etoufee size.
