I have two monitors; a laptop that is almost square and a larger one that is much wider horizontally then vertically.

What amazes me is how much different the same fish looks on the screens.

On the laptop the fish looks a little chunkier then it really is (but closest to reality), but on the bigger wider screen it looks a lot skinnier than it is. (The screen elongates the fish.)

Has anyone noticed this?

I know it's not very profound but I am struck by the difference it's so significant.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Check your screen resolutions. If you set them to the default native screen resolution the fish should look the same on both.

I have 4 displays, in 2 different resolutions; the size of and shape of an object is the same across all four.

Cecil, I believe it's the screen ratios that is causing this. LCD's are built with native resolutions, and they just don't play well if those ratios are different than the preset.

My dad has Glaucoma, and I have to lower the resolution so he can see the monitor better. Then it just doesn't look natural. Bigger screens should have a bigger picture, but this is not always the case. The bigger screens just allow you to get more real estate on that screen.

Most square laptops and crt monitors are 4:3 ratio, and desktops are usually 16:10 or 16:9.

These numbers are easily changed on both macs, and Windows.

Hope this helps, Al

Thanks guys. I'll do some checking when I get time or have the computer expert of the family (my wife) do some changes.
