No, not morals!  With this warm weather and rain forcast, I wonder how soon they will be popping up? Last year they were finding them around here the middle of April, although traditionally the best time is a week before Mothers Day.

I looked yesterday, checked all my hot spots... Found Zilch.

It is time....I am going out tomorrow to look..It was over 80 here today and neighbor came by with a handful he had found. I usually start finding them the last week of march but this year has been unusually warm..

Mongo is the best mushroom hunter around here. When he tells me he is finding them by the bread wrapper full then I know I might find enough for a good meal. I don't think we've had enough moisture this year to have a real good season.

I agree Bing, if we get that rain that's in the forecast, and the heat stays the same we could have a good crop starting next weekend into the following weeks.. The rain is needed Forrest floors are dry with no leaves to shade them..

There was a photo of ONE, in yesterday's newspaper. If we get the rain that the radar shows, it'll be on.

Greys, with a couple yellows in the mix. I'm gonna' hit the spot where the blacks grow this weekend.I found these by accident, not 50' from one of my ponds. I hope to do better when I actually get to the woods.

As a rule of thumb, I like to hunt around the following trees,
Ash, Poplar, Apple.
HOWEVER... If you are new to wild mushrooms it would be best to exercise caution. Some varieties are quite unforgiving when eaten. QUITE unforgiving if you catch my drift!
I suggest going with an experienced hunter the first few times out.
