Typically the bass in my pond dont spawn till late march early april but many of these bass have already dropped eggs and others are still holding on to them. Crazy weather/temps. last week during the full moon probably caused some of this. These are just a few I caught casting off of the dock this weekend and tried to hold them up to get a cellphone picture. The crappie was from a month ago when they were spawning. Trying to get rid of them or atleast reduce the population to a minimum. Took about 80 of them out that I caught the last month or so.

Not sure about the crappie, I dont weight them, just remove them smile They are pretty fish though.

The bass were from 15.5-18" and 2.5 - 3.75 lbs. if I remember correctly. My notebook is in the dry storage box on the dock (so I dont have an excuse not to weigh them and keep track) and I havent brought it in to compile any of the numbers yet, but I think they're close. I caught about 16 bass of 2.5 lbs or more over the weekend so the numbers and the fish are all running together in my head. Thanks to pondboss, the majority of what I catch is measured and dated with notes on weather and moon phase.

Yes it was bleeding, her other side was all torn up but she was fiesty as hell... she might have jumped 10 times on the way in tryin to throw the hook, which fell out her mouth as soon as I picked her up. I remember not actually being able to tell where the blood came from, but the pic is a little misleading cause while their is a little bit of blood, but alot of it is just reddish orange marks from fanning the bed I believe.

No telling what ate her up but they are super aggressive and will confront anything...

I watched a bass swarm a turtle when it got close to her bed, she put her nose in its side and pushed it away like a dolphin with a beachball at the aquarium. Im not talking about a gentle nudge either and on a turtle maybe 5"-6" in diameter. Once it was 10 ft or so away she let it go and then zipped back and forth past it a few times to drive home the point. Maybe bouncing turtles around happens all the time, but it was a first for me to see.

Cool observation about the turtle!

Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer.
