I am considering putting out a solar-powered floodlight near my feeder and adding another feeding time during the dark. This would be for wipers and bluegill. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about this?

With solar you probably want to stay away from floodlights. Get a nice flourecent bulb, they put out the same candlewatt power and run on 75% less energy. I have a 4 sided hanging lantern with openings to give bugs access the light bulb. I then wired a 12V heavy duty ($2 ebay) metal 12V fan to the bottom of the light, and hung it over the water. Bugs go in, get sucked to the bottom, and splattered into the water...stole the idea from some guys who market the 110V model. Free fish food...e-mail me if you want specifics on the fan.

I saw a 3 L.E.D. directional solar flood, self contained at Walmart I was going to get and try for the same purpose. Should draw a few bugs to the water, too. I know it wont be bright, but it doesnt take much light on a dark night, no moon.
Has anyone tried this?
