Looking to buy some food to feed the bluegill we will be stocking in a month or so. From what I read it seems Aquamax is the way to go. There are no dealers around here and was wondering if anyone knows where I could purchase a 50 lb bag online. I realize the shipping charges might be high but I would rather pay a little more to get a quality food. The bluegill we will be stocking will be around 3 inches. Would Aquamax 500 be OK for this size fish? Thanks in advance for any info. Great site with a ton of great info.

Scan the local yellow pages for pet food dealers handling Purina feeds. They can place orders for it when they make their regular orders to Purina. Aquamax is made by Pruina Mills in Richmond IN. Did you try this link and store locator? http://www.fishchow.com/If you new BG will be only 3" max, the 5D05 (#500 - 3/16" dia) may be a little too large of pellet for many of those fish because when one order 3" fingerling there are usually many in that order smaller than 3". I suggest the #400 5D04 (dia 3/32") is a better size for 3" and smaller BG. Ask the seller if these fish are pellet trained and if so ask if he will bring you some correct size food of 10-20 lbs that they use to feed these fish with your order. Usually you will not need a whole 50# bag for a few small BG. Once the BG are larger then buy a whole bag of 5D05.

Thanks for info everyone. Found out that there is a Purina dealer in Petersburg which is around 20 miles from here. Will check with them to see if they can order it. Thanks again to all for the info. We are in Virginia, Virginia, IL that is.
