I am just under 3 acre pond and I have 1 feeder towards the end near the house, I am wondering if I will need another feeder? If I do I should start treating sweety better. Give me some ideas on the feeder and also sweety. I read earlier that Bream do not travel far for their feed.

I think you mean sweeney not sweety but you could call them that if you like made me laugh \:D . I agree that for 3 acres depending on shape that majority of bluegill will not ever reach the food if just one. I also strongly encourage you give Stren Aquapro feeders a look.

I really did mean sweety. I have to treat her nice if I want her to stay on my side for another feeder. I realize it was a joke. I consider the Stren AquaPro feeder that I have one of the best. I have the ADF/75D. E mail me your recommendation and prices-please. Is all this worth a discount?
(My sweety wants to know).

you might want to try another type feeder.i bought a stren about 18 months ago and in the past 6 months had nothing but trouble.it's sitting in my back yard now waiting for me to work on it again.bottom motor's do not hold up on there units, all though i might add they have sent me 2 motors at no charge,i think this time the top motor is not working.now the bottom motor starts but feed does not come out of unit.i did notice the top motor took about 10 seconds to kick in so i'm thinking that might be the problem this time.

196lake,
sorry to hear you have had trouble. I can say this to you though. They will make it right whatever it takes. ALso % of feeders sold that have had problems is less than 10% and that number was higher on clients with Sweeney feeder. It was over 90% when I used to sell "fish feeder" that was really a deer feeder.

Greg,
Not sure where you got your numbers from concerning our feeders since our records indicate you have not purchased any of our directional feeders in the past. As you stated in an earlier post, all feeders will have problems at times, and we are not perfect. However, it would have been very difficult for us to have been the industry leader for over 30 years if our customer satisfaction was only 10%. FYI--as of the 5th of April, every directional feeder ordered will be shipped as our new auger style feeder. Trust me when I say that this is undoubtedly the best directional feeder on the market. On the bright side, please keep up the informative responses you give the readers of PondBoss.com. It does nothing but help the industry. Thanks,

bklem,

What is an "auger style" feeder?

I have owned four Sweeney feeders with generally good success. The timers tend to quit working after a season or two, though. Do you have a program that allows me to send in a timer for maintenance or replacement at a discount?

Oh , by the way , they were reading an earlier post of mine about some problems i had at one time .

Today i received a phone call from them double checking on my feeder .

It's been at least a year since i've had any problems with my Sweeney feeder .

I have no ties to Sweeney , are any Fish or Pond products , just like my feeder .

Billy, sorry for the confusing post. When I said " deer feeders" this was not referring to Sweeney. I meant a cheaper version that I bet you can guess. I did sell Sweeney and they are good feeders. The main thing was difficulty in getting a few new feeders fixed that were bought by my clients from another source. They had to spend $100's on a feeder less than a year old. May have been an isolated case, but turned me off from selling them.

Agree with Greg about using a deer feeder as a fish feeder. If I figured all the money I have spent on Kenco's and Game Country's I could have purchased a Stren. You get what you pay for.
Just bought my third Kenco motor.
No knock on Kenco or Game Country they do not advertise as fish feeders.

Hey Greg been doing any turkey hunting? Had a gobbler near me Saturday but could not call him in.

Yea Greg, I know what you mean. I have a guy who just purchased 5 of our 300lb scatter feeders to put on a lake. Tried to convince him that our directionals were the way to go but couldn't get him to do it. Said he already had made the platforms for them to float on.

Bruce, Our "auger style feeder" is our directional feeder without the gate assembly and solenoid. It uses an auger, powered by a second Dayton motor, to dispense the food onto the impeller. Will feed anything from 1/16" pellets to small 3/8"x1" livestock cubes. Same price, same three year UNCONDITIONAL warranty. Also, I will have someone contact you about the timer situation.

Bill, I spoke with owner several times when desigining the directional plate for Game Country. I never was too impressed except with price. When compared to Sweeney or Stren it is a whole diff world. Better than scatter feeder but not much better.

Agree, I e-mailed them with what I thought was a design flaw and never heard back from them, was not complaining just trying to help them out. Turkeys?
