Racing fuel is watered down near beer compared to Nitro!
Yes, but it's reliability over a long distance is suspect.
True, but you can coast for a long ways after hitting 300 mph!
350 cu. in./800 hp vs. 500 cu. in. and 8,000 hp.
I know driver safety, fan attendance, close racing and all that, but I think it was more interesting back when the cars were closer to actual production cars and the rules were a bit more lenient.
7/8 scale chevelle anyone; drive a car away from the inspection station without the gas tank? (I read that it really wasn't 7/8 scale, but you know what I'm talking about)

You know me. If it is has a hot motor in it I like it!
When I was young (7th or 8th grade) I welded up and ground a hot cam for a 3 hp Briggs. I new how to weld and run a lathe. I new that more lift and duration made more power. I new that more lift and duration required more spring pressure so I put in a pair of heavier valve springs that I bought at the local car parts place.
After everything was assembled and tested for clearance, I tried to fire it up. The cam duration was long so it was hard to start but it sounded really cool running through that straight pipe and the 8hp carburetor that I adapted to the 3hp block.
I revved it up to about 10,000 rpm and the connecting rod shot out the side of the block. And that was that.
Kinda reminds me of us mounting a drone aircraft engine on a Cushman scooter. We revved it up, put it in gear and the tranny scattered stuff everywhere.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Boy, if I say "sic em", you'd better look for something to bite. Sam Shelley Rancher and Farmer Muleshoe Texas 1892-1985 RIP
Gonna have to get my surround sound hooked up pretty quick (for Pomona) Maybe even a bigger TV, nah!
Circle burners are fun and all. Lived near Berlin raceway as a kid and have been around the track a couple times. Usually when the boss chickened out after loosing it. Granted, I was only 14 at the time and was a volunteer, the whole experience was kinda fun.
In Texas we have recently developed our brand of the eco car. While not as small as the Prius, we believe that if you get where you are going in seconds and fractions thereof, then you will use much less fuel. The theory is being tested as we speak.
Basketball is in overtime Who the heck watches that stuff??? Get over it already, and put the REAL stuff on the tube
I'll have to agree. I can't bear to watch any sport that involves a ball, puck, net, goalpost, racket, club, bat, or stick.
That pretty much limits my involvement to motorsports, and even then I won't watch anything with a left, (or right) turn.
I love the absolute perfection that is required in Drag Racing. Granted, perhaps the driver involvement is not as much a part of the sport as it is in circle track racing, but I can't get the "Oh crap I made a mistake, now I've only got 178 more laps left to correct it" scenario out of my head. No thanks.
In drag racing, by the time you realize you may have made an error, it's usually too late. You're deploying the chute at the end of the run and the next two cars are already pulling into the staging lanes. Driver and car must be 100% the first time, every time, or it goes back on the trailer. I love that.
Course' I have been known to enjoy a pro super stock diesel tractor pull also, must be my rural mechanical heritage showing.
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.
There was a Trick little B1 Duster, either 511" or 514" (been a while) with a progressive 5 stage NOS system. Called "Killer Instinct". That car is my favorite! He would eat those 800" Blown Alky's for lunch and leave a generous tip!
That car was awesome, and was always a great treat for me, even on a test and tune night.
I may hit US131 (Martin) again this year. I practically lived there. Friday and Saturday night Hot Rods are Way Cool!
