Thanks

My pond is 1.25 acres and I regularly raise HSB to 6 pounds, with the occasional fish to 15 pounds. Here's one I raised. I realize that people may be getting sick of this picture.

I keep looking at Bruce's photo and trying to imagine it....
A beautiful spring morning. Loading some select fishing gear into my kayak. Paddling out to my favorite spot. Casting a lure. Beginning the retrieve. Then WHAM the lure is hit, the reel is screaming as the drag is pulled, wondering if my pole is going to take the strain, trying to remember how old the line is, worried if my knots will hold, and finally after an exhausting fight getting the fish to the side of the boat, looking down and seeing that monster in the water. It's huge mouth, it's enormous proportions, realizing I'm gonna have to haul into the kayak with me just to release it...
I think,
no I'm fairly certain,
I'd wee-wee in the kayak.

That wouldn't be a problem after you tip it and fall in trying to land the fish.

If you feed fish regularly you can get them to large size. Pond size had nothing to do with it. Different species but you get the drift. Sorry if you're getting sick of this picture too.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

How much did that brown trout weigh? Just under 12 lbs. and 26 inches. Got this fish at about 3 lbs. as a three year old. This is how big it got at five years of age.

We have been stocking some HSB for our own enjoyment in a 2.5 acre pond where we keep broodstock. First HSBs were stocked there in 2005. My biologist Clint was down there electrofishing a few days ago and reported one HSB in the 6-7 lb range. Sorry, no pics and no other documentation....we won't let Clint forget about this carelessness. Anyway, I believe him and can't wait to see this fish one day.
It's ALL about the fish!

As far as I'm concerned, Clint was way tooooo attached to those fish that were in your tank at the show. If it hadn't been for Cliff's fishy soft spot, I would have truly been "Fisheries Stocking Consultant, Arlington TX Wyndham Hotel."

Who could get tired of that pic? I just found it in a browse through the older threads, and man, it makes me want to start a HSB lake once I get established after my move to the farm. What did you do with the fish? Did you release it?

No that is the brother in law of a relative. He was shocked when that fish almost jerked him out of the boat.
