Thank you, gentlemen! Been a hectic day so far, but I may take the afternoon off tomorrow and hit the woods for the first time this buck season to see if I can shoot a deer. Hope y'all are having great days, too!

Hope y'all are having great days, too! Hey dude! I hope after the hectic day, you at least got to enjoy a little time with the family. I hope you get your hunting wish for tomorrow. If you don't, let me know. Your friends on this side of the mountain, including Lynda and me, will make sure you get a few hind quarters punctuated with birthday candles! This has probably been the best season ever -- and they are still everywhere, day and night. We are tired of skinning, quartering, and butchering. I've perfected a few new sausage and salami recipes, and Gary moved his digitally controlled electric "smoke house" to our place! Dennis has brought out his family's Preston County pepperoni-roll recipe, and has been supplying the neighborhood. You better plan a trip! We just finished remodeling our guest bedroom and bathroom. Happy Birthday!!!!

Thanks to everybody for the birthday wishes. Didn't end up making it out on Friday, but my 6 year old son and I did so on Saturday. Saw a lot of does and could have shot one pretty easily, but we were looking for antlers. Didn't see any, but had a blast spending time walking our property and that of our immediate neighbors, me with my .270 and AJ with his new .22 (unloaded). He felt like a big man carrying that rifle all day and we had a blast together, especially when I let him crack off a handful of rounds out of his new rifle.
As of this point, no new meat for the freezer, but with doe season coming, we'll get a couple no doubt. Just have to find the time!
And for the record, this was the 45th December 1st I've been alive!

Todd, my Grandson Trevor has been my hunting partner for about 11 years. I used to take diapers, a Game Boy and snacks to the deer stand. No way I could leave him behind.
He had his BB gun and I had a 30-06. He got to take the first shot and if wasn't a clean kill I had to finish the deer off with my 30-06.
He's now 13, got a bow and is ready for bow hunting. I know nothing about sticks and string but the cost, $$$.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
