Hi, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to best construct a floating island for ducks to nest in on a pond? Thanks!

Consider making a wood or plastic frame and float it with 4x8 sheets of foam board. Use as many 3/4"-2" thick foam sheets as it takes to get the top the required height out of the water. You may need a walk-up ramp so ducks can easily get onto the floating island. Be aware that ducks and waterfowl speed up the aging, eutrophication, and increased algae production of a water body due to their abundant fertile manure production.

Our aquatic plant supplier in Charleston, SC sells what they call "Floating Wetlands". I have never personally installed one, so I don't really know how their's are constructed. Here is a link: http://www.floatingwetlands.com/floating_wetlands.html

There once was a very nice blog on the internet about how to make islands with 5 gal pails & a wood platform. Best way to anchor them etc., long with very nice pictures. I am not to internet savy & did not copy the whole thing to a hard drive. I looked a while back when I wanted to build one & it is now gone.
