During the drought this summer, my dam developed some major cracks in the top. The original dam is under 3 or 4 feet of the silt/muck that was pushed on top of it when I had the pond renovated a couple of years ago. My question is, should I be overly concerned about these cracks? They run most of the length of the dam and are about4 to 5 inches wide. On the backside I have about a 15 foot drop to the level ground behind the dam. I was going to run the dozer over it this weekend to fix the road on top of the dam but wasn't sure if that would be a good idea.

Get in touch with Mike Otto.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

That was going to be my next step but I looked a little better this weekend. The cracks were only about a foot deep so I cleaned up the road on top with the dozer so we'll see what happens.
