The local store I have been using to get AM 500 and 600 is about to stop dealing with Purina Mills. Does Nutrena make anything similar in make-up to those feeds? (Or anyone else for that matter?) My goal is for feeding the coppernose bluegill in my bass pond btw

I googled "nutrena fish feed" and it comes to a site that is a nutrena feed. Shows that Nutrena is a subsidiary of Cargill. On your link to sites, it leads to a cargill based fish feed. Looks like they offer some very high protein feeds.A Nutrena dealer should be able to make a couple of phone calls.

Find the ones that look ok to you and post a link. Not all fish feed is equal and it’s not just protein amount that matters. It’s matching the feed to your facts and goals.

Still working on Purina angle but in the mean time we had shipped in Ziegler brothers 42-16 in different sizes and I really like that food and compares strognly with AM.

That is starter food - largest size is 2.2 mm which is smaller than AM 400. Not an all around pond fish food. Also I would want to know the source of the protein (fish , blood , plant ? ).

Ewest no we have the Zeigelr in 1/8" 3/16", 1/4" and 5/16" all in 42% prtein and 16% fat with fish meal being a top ingredient. Also they have a 40-10 we got in for growing bluegill lbs for bass food.

You asking me? Freight will kill you over $20 for one bag. If you get 40-80 bags then feasible with good freight quote. FYI we retail the 44 lb bags for $38.

Greg thanks for the info.I've checked into other brands of feed, would love to try some, but the other manufacturers are so far away from me. The cost is usually prohibitive to try them. But in price/value comparison, I had sticker shock on AM 500 at $29 a bag. Then after using and seeing the results, thought wow I'd rather feed one bag of the good stuff, than 2 bags of the cheap.

Yes $29/bag for AM is very good price and like you said it is awesome stuff well worth the cost.
