I was in one of our two local Lowes stores this afternoon to pick up some plumbing supplies. I was looking for elbows when I saw these things: LASCO PVC Fittings I bought eight of the 3/4-inch 3-way elbows, for about a $1 each, so I can build a new fish cage at the end of the dock. They had them in 1/2-inch, 3/4-inch, and 1-inch. I asked one of the plumbing helpers when they started stocking these things -- she said they always have them! I guess I've been blind in all my trips to their plumbing department.

Not a bad price and available at the store. When I built the minnow trap on another thread I bought my fittings from an online source called DP's Bargain Basement, 3/4 inch fitting cost 87 cents, 1 inch fittings were $1.66 but I'm sure I paid shipping too.
Gotta get back to fishin!

Would like to see pics of the completed cage. Was going to build a live well into my dock like roadwarrior did but your idea seems easier to accomplish. Keep us posted.

Yeah, those have been available for many years. Generally for the DIY outdoor furniture market.

I could only find the 1" 3way elbows (all slip fitting) at my Defiance OH Lowes. They had the 3way in 1/2"; but one port of the 1/2" size was threaded. I will check at the Toledo store.

Bill, you could glue in a reducer to use smaller PVC if needed. I thought you liked the trash can style of cage vs. the square anyway! I forgot that I had saved this link: http://flexpvc.com/cart/agora.cgi?product=PVC-3-ways They have both pressure rated and non-pressure rated fittings.

I bought my netting from them. They aren't too far from you, correct?

I would use the 3Way fitings for fish traps and live boxes. Trash can cages are easier for me to handle.
