Pond Boss Forums AERATION Should I aerate? Did I do something wrong??

We have an acre pond in our backyard that is 25 years old. This summer we decided to add aeration. The system has three double nine inch diffusers driven by a 1/2 horse rocking piston pump. We gradually introduced the aeration for about seven days. The pump has been running 24/7 for about three weeks. It appears the pond has turned over and the junk on the bottom is on top. Is there something else we need to do? I have attached pictures in the image gallery. My wife looks out the kitchen window when she does dishes and cooks and sees the pond, the sooner I get this junk off the pond the better, if you know what I mean. Thanks

TJS, I replied to your other post. That's FA (Filamentous Algae) that has floated up to the surface.

Thank you for the replies. We are in Morgan County, IN. We didn't seem to have as much floating algae before the aeration, just wondered if it was bringing it up from the bottom. Thanks, Tom

As algae matures, it traps gasses and tends to float. There are also different types of FA depending on water temp.
