Would it hurt to fertilize at night? The water temp at 4 feet is 65 deg. at sunrise- 69 deg at sunset. Also- Should I avoid fertilizing over certain depths? For example: in water over 6 ft deep or less than 2 ft.
It is an 8 acre gravel pit, average depth 10 feet, ultra clear water, 60% eurasian milfoil coverage.I'm using liqid fertilizer, 10-34-0, at 3 gallons per acre.

Thanks

Roadtrip, daylight, dark, or phase of the moon doesn't matter. Dilute and apply according to the manufacturer's label. Just be extremely careful for your personal well-being. If in a boat, wear a floatation device (life preserver). Try to have a physically fit and mentally alert person with you who could help you in the event of mishap. I would apply in the weed-free areas regardless of depth.

Have you tried to control the milfoil? I suspect my pond will have milfoil in it eventualy and am wondering how to control it or if anyone can control it.

Actually, part of the reason I am fertilizing is to control the milfoil. The algae bloom darkens the water enough to keep sunlight from reaching the milfoil, as well as starting the food chain.
There are some good thorough discussions on Milfoil control under the "vegetation" topic on this website.
I fertilized two nites ago, the water is taken on a slightly green tint and pods of algea scum are floating around on the surface, especially around the shoreline. I thinks its working!
