Currently we have a pond on our farm that is a little under an acre in size, it used to be a swampy area with reeds everywhere and we filled it to duck hunt over. The pond is about 5ft throughout the whole lake and about 10ft where the pipe is, is this too shallow? What all do I need to do to get this pond ready to stock it? forage, Feeders, Structure, Etc. My only concern on this pond is that the river is about 30yds on the other side of the damn and floods occasionally (every 5 years or so.) would I loose all of my fish if it flooded again?

Hey CJ welcome to the PBF!! YOu have some good questions. First it kind of depends on what you want out of the pond?? I would think 5 feet and a little bit of 10 foot of water would be ok for a BG, RES and few LMB. Your setup is close to what I have except I average a little deeper than 5 feet, but I have had some pretty good luck with the BG, RES and LMB combination. You just have to remember to limit how many bass you have in there and put them in later once you have a decent forage base setup. It really depends on what your goals are. I am no expert for sure so maybe someone else can chime in and give your some advise as well.
Good Luck budddy, Can you take a few pics and post them that would help a little also.
The only difference between a rut and a Grave is the depth. So get up get out of that rut and get moving!! Time to work!!

Hi Cj and welcome to Pond Boss. Here's an interesting discussion regarding pond depth. How deep is too deep?

my main goal is to have huge LMB in the pond, I know this is easier said than done but I want to make sure it is possible before investing in this pond. also this is a spring fed pond that continuously has water coming out of the pipe, we have two over flow pipes as well. what all can I do to ad forage to the pond? would I plant it?

yes but in that thread I was trying to get an idea of what to stock and how much it will cost. this one is just for the overall management of it.
