Ok just wondering something. My pond has had threadfins in it for the last 4 years and they come up in large schools every afternoon all summer. I have largemouth and HSB in my pond but I never see bass bust on them like they do at the lake. I live a few miles from clarks hill and the bass school up and bust on the shad like crazy in the month of may and you can catch them on anything when they come up schooling. Why dont they do that in ponds?

How do your LMB look ? Just because the LMB don't bust up the school does not mean they aren't eating shad.

Oh some look good and some dont. I know that most of them are eating shad right now. I just wonder why they dont bust on them and get into a feeding frenzy like the ones at the lake.

Jes could be gizzard or blueback at the lake and they act differnt but I hear you I have seen (or lack thereof)the same. Reservoirs are different animals than our ponds. Several dozen or more species than just the few we have. Could be hybrids or stripers getting them schooled up then bass also eat on them. I know you got the hybrid but other than curiousity I think they are doing their job of feeding the bass. GL

I guess maybe thats the difference.

Greg, I finally got the hybrids started on the Aquamax Largemouth. Took about two weeks to get them to start eating the bigger pellets. I also ended up getting around 7500 shad from that guy that I got them from before. The bass have fattend back up in the past few weeks since I put them in. Also saw 4 or 5 of those crawfish we stocked last year eating the food that sunk in front of one of the feeders, So there should be plenty of forage in there for a while. Not to mention there are tons of 2-3" bluegill eating at the feeders now. I did catch 2 nice bass about 2.5 lbs the other day that didnt have tags. Its amazing to me that after 4 years of fishing in there as hard as I do that there is still bass that havent been caught. I went one morning and caught all 10 of those bass that a got from you that we tagged with the orange tags. I guess they are just that much more aggresive and arent hook shy yet.
