Hey guys took some pointers from Roadjoker and Roadwarrior and started on my dock sunday.. I went with a 4x16 walkway and a 12x16 dock. Im using 24 barrels. Also i made some pretty nice metal bench brackets. They cost me $100 to build and it would have cost $175 to $200 for the premade poly ones. I think these ones will last alot longer.. Heres some pics of the progress hope to finish it next weekend.. If someone could load these on the thread for me id really appreciate it.. Thanks BGK

I'm glad I could contribute something to this site! I used some metal plating along the gangway, knowing it would be subjected to the humidity, rain, etc. I cleaned the metal with acetone, then put some saltwater marine grade epoxy coating on it. 2 years later, rust is popping up! DOH !!!! Also, I too, find it satisfying to make something myself that use store bought. One thing to keep in mind (I did not) is weight. The metal frame weights much more than the poly. Although I think you've pretty well covered with 24 barrels, just something to keep in mind. I also painted my barrels. Use silver or white. This helps reflect the harmful UV rays that can break down the plastic barrels over the years. If you have any questions, just ask. If there was a mistake to be made, I probably made it! Haha!
Picked up some high gloss black implement (tractor) paint.. That some tough paint, messy but long last, very scratch and wear resistant. Perfect for a dock.. Total will cost about $10 each bracket.. Sounds like a good price to me..

BGK, If you don't have a dozer to push the dock in, build the frame, attach the barrels, then you and a few friends can carry it to the water. After its floating, you can lay the deck. By the way, this is not a time to operate electric drills over the water after consuming a 12 pack! Carefeul not to drop the nails either! Haha!
Got my bench brackets all painted up for the weekend.. Hope to make a big dent in completing this, this weekend.. Although I am working Saturday now so that could hinder progress..

Got all the bench brackets on today, and wouldn't you know THE VERY LAST LAG BOLT I PUT IN BROKE... hopefully get the lumber on the brackets this week..
Sorry guys haven't been on the site much lately. Alot going on between work, spring new home projects, getting boat, lawnmower, lake, feeders everything ready for the season leaves only time for sleep it seems like..

Hey hey.... Simmer down.. I will get pics.. I couldn't get it done with the weather we've been having.. I did mount the feeder on the dock last night though..

OK folks spent some serious time in the pond yesterday.. About 2 hours between mounting the dock post in concrete and setting structure under my dock. Also I got all the seats put on my benches hopefully get the backs put in soon.. I swam out and retrieved most of my structure i placed last year, after getting some info from other on raising huge gills, I don't want structure except maybe one spot so I'm concentrating it all under my dock.. I attached some pics if what the structures look like after sitting about 6 months.. I made 12 total found 8 last night swimming around looking..
Before pics
After 6 months
Hope you guys like the pics..
Pics of dock to come soon

Hey -- tell us a little more about your "structure pots." What are they made from? They look pretty neat.
Also, it must be a lot warmer in Illinois than it is in WV -- or you are one numb dude. I sure couldn't be swimming in my pond. My water is only in the high 50s.
Here's a link to the structure thread i made when I made them.. Also the water is relatively warm, not really swimming warm but you get use to it quickly lol.. I kinda thought it was od it seemed alot warmer on the deeper end rather than the shallow end..
