Hey guys, I have a quick question about my water line. I have to trench it about 310 feet. I have pretty decent pressure at the main we are going to put in cpvc all the way as it is stronger and can stand the cold better, but my question is would you go 1 inch or 3/4 inch going as far as I have to go? Just not sure what would work best.

Thanks,

RC, Just like with aerator lines, the bigger, the less friction, thus more volume. We put in a 1430' water line 2 years ago and had people tell us 1 and 1.5". I went 2" and glad I did.

RC, either will work, but as FarmerRick states, the larger the ID the less friction loss. Airline, though, right? Not water line...

RC when you say cpvc, do you mean the cream colored pipe in 10' lengths?
I wouldn't run 300 ft of that. That would be 30 joints that could possibly leak later. I would go with 1 inch black poly pipe all one piece. You can get it in 500' lengths at a pretty good price. Just an opinion though. smile Almost forgot. I used pex pipe last time to run my hydrants for the horses. It is a little more expensive but is more flexible and freeze resistant (not freeze proof)

Hey thanks everyone I appreciate the input. Jason yes the cream colored pipe is correct. Your right though we would have to glue it all together. I will look into the poly pipe and pex pipe too.

Thanks,

You can get 1 1/4" poly too. Larger IS better.
