Here's some pictures from the trip after the PB convention.

I fished a buddy's pond that is East of Dallas. I didn't have a ruler or a scale with me, and I tossed all the fish back into the BOW. We caught LMB the previous day to 6 1/4 lbs, and a friend of his in the other boat caught a 10# LMB - on a certified scale. It's a new BOW record. I measured my hand, from fingertip to the wrist is 8 1/2". I did catch a CNBG that I had to grab from the water and laid it against the rod. It hit the 12" mark. But, no pics, so it didn't happen. wink Barbless hooks, he wants the fish out of the water no longer than 30 seconds with minimal handling. That CNBG was harder to handle than the LMB so no pics. Normally it's a flyfishing only BOW, but with the 30-40 mph winds that were whipping up while I was down there we fished with conventional tackle.

All of the CNBG and the LMB that I caught that day were caught on a 1/4 oz leadhead with a #4 hook, swimming a 2" pearl shassy shad paddle tail. To anyone that thinks BG and CNBG don't eat small fish, I say hogwash! I caught about 60 BG and CNBG in about 70 casts. This was the 2nd time this year that the BOW was fished.

This LMB was 21" long, caught on that Sassy Shad. 6# Berkley Vanish fluro

Looking at the pond from the front porch of the house. I was told it's 35 acres.

Love the shape on that BG. I'm curious, though. I would have called it a female based on it's coloring, and the small opercular flap. However, I do notice black tipping on the "shoulder" scales. Is this fish an immature male, or a female? Very prominent dark spot on the dorsal fin also. Beautiful fish.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

I'm calling it a female intergrade CNBG.
Really nice fish!

A 35 acre pond... That's a lake! Only fished for the second time this year? Wow! That is some light fishing pressure... Beautiful fish!

I think a lot of the fish that I caught were females. Many looked like they were chock full of eggs. The LMB that we caught were in really good shape, one or 2 still seemed to have eggs, but most were definately spawned out and caught in 6'-8' of water.

There are BG, CNBG and RES in this BOW. Last year I caught a very large RES on a Bass popper w/a 2/0 hook. The RES was able to get the hook in it's mouth without a problem.

Travis, the same piece of property also has a 45-100 acre "pond" depending on the water level. It's supposed to average around 70 ac. grin I think it's up over 20 BOW's total now on the property if you count the small ones. The rest of them are 5-7 ac and smaller.

The owner is a pretty private type of guy, and has done a good job of enforcing his strict (but good) fishing regulations.

That BOW (35 ac) is managed for trophy LMB and has phenominal genetics in it.

Sounds like one impressive place to visit... Hard to beat a well managed private water, there is no doubt about that.
