Same trip, stock tune on 87 octane gas 20.5 +- a few tenths.
Same trip, stock tune on E85 17.5 +- a few tenths.

I haven't tried it with 91 octane stock or otherwise and at the price of that stuff I probably won't.

The main issue with running a tune specifically for E85 is that you have to use E85. Luckily, the tune takes about 2 minutes to change back to the more generic gasoline tunes when you are in areas without E85 availability.

After I get the new 4" exhaust I am going in for a dyno run to re-tweak the e85 tune and see what the numbers are at the rear wheels.

In the end though, it is all about the mileage and the greenness. smile

It sounds like you are on the right track and are getting it dialed in.

Please, Please, Please post the results, I can't wait to see what your hot rod truck is putting to the wheels! That truck is a monster stock - with the new and upcoming modifications it has got to be fun to drive!

I've stayed out of the K&N debate. I will say this, I've had K&N's on almost every performance car I've owned.

I think K&N's are like GSF, everybody should have a bunch, after all what's the worst that can happen? laugh

This message was brought to you by K&N Air Filters and the GSA. Just don't mess with either of us.

Jhap...I have had more than a few calls about my information to customers from K&N executives....I won a Richard Petty Driving Experience from K&N for being the top sales producer for them when I worked for O'Reilly Autos...that was out of over 10,000 parts guys...I just let the customer make a fully informed decision and then make the sale.

But GSF will NEVER ride on my truck!!!

Today I drove to Litchfield, MN home of Heartthrob Exhaust, Inc. They had a new 4” CBE for the 6.2 liter GM 1500 trucks that I wanted installed. I needed a couple of custom touches so I set up an appointment to have them install it and make the modifications I wanted.

As it turns out it was a good thing that I got that appointment rather than ordering the standard part and installing it myself. The CBE that was specified for my GMC needed a different front flange than the 2011 Chevy they prototyped.

The Chevrolet has a 3.5 inch catalytic converter outlet and flange while my GMC has a 4” outlet and flange. They made the necessary changes and this afternoon there is a new CBE part number for GMCs with 6.2 liter engines on their website.

So my CBE is 4” from catalytic converter all the way to the stainless steel tip that is 5 inches in diameter.

Here is a photo of the out-end all covered in mud caused by our crappy weather today. I’ll get a better photo after we get some decent weather and the truck is clean.

I will have more on the performance and mileage after some testing. Yes, the sound is wonderful. cool

Dwight likes to mess with factory made stuff for better MPH, horse-power, and sound. The thing I admire is even when towing his boat he can blow by most vehicles on the road, no worries.

Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.

I know the feeling! The next thing to do (besides regular maintenance) to the Jetta is swap the turbo and a larger SS exhaust from turbo to bumper. I'd really like to reduce the EGT's after a run thru the gears. 1400°F is getting a wee bit warm for my taste. I still have the same factory air filter, but from the filter to the turbo the intake tubes have been replaced with larger mandrel bent ones, injectors have been swapped and computer has been re-flashed. (it spikes to 20-22, then settles down at 18 psi now instead of the factory 10-12)(that's the short list wink )

Bet the truck has a nice rumble now Dwight! I love a nice sounding, performance exhaust system - makes the vehicle much more fun to own.

I put a Borla Stainless exhaust system on my 92 Dakota with a V6. It sounded sweet. I pulled into a huge building one day that I rented some space in. A guy next door thought I had a big block in it.

I did think about putting a 500 Inch Thumper in it. That would have been sweet!, but not street legal.

My favorite engine noise is a Pro Mod on NOS. My favorite Pro Mod car was called Killer Instinct. Oh the time I spent at US131 Dragway, sure was fun!

I'm thinking that when you bought your hot rod truck and then decided to increase your horsepower that miles per gallon were not the top priority.

Besides what we really, really want are the dyno numbers.

It will be somewhere over 400 HP. Stock they are around 360 on 87 octane.

I finally got around to doing a couple 100 miler round trips for mileage checking. 21.8 on one and 21.9 on the second. The 4" exhaust system appears to have increased mileage on the loop .7-8 or so.

0-60 time is 5.89 seconds and the 1/4 mile time is 14.57 @ 99.4 mph. (Not bad for a 4WD drive truck)

When I filled up this morning E85 was 2.95 and 87 octane gas was 3.83.

I may still be going broke, but I am having a helluva a lot of fun doing it. smile
