Welcome to the forum muzzy! You'll love it here.

I believe it is best to let the pallets float on the surface. Anchor them to the shore. When they water log and sink, replace them.

Hi muzzy, I've yet to try this but at my local minnow farm they use black plastic to enourage fathead reproduction. They just lay large sheets of black contruction plastic in the pond. The plastic gets enough air trapped under it that it floats. I was told that the minnows lay there eggs on the underside of the plastic. The plastic is warmed by the sun which incubates and helps with hatching success. This is not pretty but I've been told it is very effective.

Gotta get back to fishin!

18" or shallower, near shore. Floating is fine too.

Thanks guys for your help. The reason i asked about the depth is because i put about 7000 in my pond and i have not seen one since i let them out of the bags. I was thinking that they like deep water because i never see any. Thanks for the help again and yall well be hereing from me again with another dumb question.

When you put the 7000 in, were there any predatory fish in the pond like bass? If so, FHM are not good at avoiding predation and if you have an established pond those 7000 FHM were probably a quick day or two snack...

The pond is old but me and quiet a few of my buddys fished this pond over and over and over tring to see if we could find a fish. After many trips and every bait (cricket, shinner, red worm, night crawler, crank bait spinner bait etc.) all we could catch was one bream about 3 inches long. Im not saying that its empty but i dont think Bill Dance would fish it more than once.

You probably want to do a seiene survey or have the pond electroshocked to get a better idea what fish community you are working with...
