Cecil, you've always been a celebrity in my book! I wish but thanks for the kind words Sue.

Nice, Cecil. See you at NCRAC next month? No, someone will be there but I'm not sure who at this point. I'm sure you heard Bob Lyons passed away?

Cecil, What is your fiction novel going to be about?
Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.

I'll post the first paragraph and last two paragraphs of the first chapter and you guys see if you can figure out what kind of novel it is and what it's about. Nic Farrah glided along almost effortlessly in his canoe in the early morning hours of the third week of September on the northern Maine mountain pond. He took in the brilliant autumn foliage that decorated the steep hillsides, and the call of the loons that were chastising him for invading their territory. Up here in the mountains a family of loons took ownership of each individual pond. Loons are a primitive bird that can't move well on land, but easily compensate for that with their expert aquatic skills diving and chasing fish. An interesting checkerboard plumage pattern on their backs adds a fitting elegance, and their haunting cries are nothing short of enthralling, if not enticingly spooky. Just a little unnerving is the first time these intelligent piercing red eyes check you out as this waterfowl pops up near your canoe. But the birds seemed more than just annoyed by his presence, and in fact seemed distraught. At least if not by him, by something.
Last two paragraphs of the first chapter: The first thing he noticed was the massive conifer had been freshly snapped off. A picture came into focus of many trees pushed over and broken like mere toothpicks, in what appeared to be a twisted turning path carved out by something skidding through the woods down to the water's edge. It reminded him of a path a tornado had made through stand of woods he had once seen in Iowa. The musty smell of fresh turned forest floor exposed to the open air was pungent.
The destruction terminated into an elliptical metallic disc sitting on the shoreline, and the light show, now up close, was a glowing pulsating series of colors that came in and out of phase with the disc embedded inside them. Oddly the disc didn't appear damaged in any way considering it had apparently bulldozed and snapped dozens of trees. There were no markings or openings of any kind on the disk. Nic didn't know what to make of it. Surely nothing he had ever seen in the northern Maine woods or perhaps anyone else. Nic pulled his digital camera out from his vest. Suddenly he heard something directly behind him.

WAR OF THE WORLDS?...maybe some kind of twist on GULLIVERS TRAVELS where the disc represents mankinds struggle to take dominion over every living thing on earth....or maybe the sound he hears behind him is some sort of interplanetary Yetti that just wants to be friends and share the secrets of time travel??? I dunno?

Who would of thought the word "pond" would appear in the first sentence of Cecil's novel?
Does the name Pavlov ring a bell?

Who would of thought the word "pond" would appear in the first sentence of Cecil's novel? What's interesting about Maine and New England in general is how large a body of water they call a "pond." E.g., Walden pond at 61 acres and 102 feet deep is Walden "pond."

Hmmm, Sounds like a cross between " The Tommyknockers", and the supposed UFO crash at Kecksburg, PA.
"Nothing to see here folks, The planet Venus emitted some swamp gas which was ignited by ball lightning. Move along. Oh, and I'm gonna' need everyone to keep quiet about this, top secret weather balloon stuff you know, Nothing unusual, Hey you! Put down that camera!!!"
Sounds like a good read to me....
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.
