Well, read an article (had to pay 1.99 just to get access to it) in the Paris, Texas newspaper that they are getting ready to extend their Rails to Trails a couple of towns further to the one just down the road from me: Blossom. They basically turn the rail into a trail and pull out any gates that block access, which in reality just opens them to locals on 4-wheelers and illegal dumpers frown.

I have started cutting a road further down my property line so I can plant a nice, dense grove of hedge along the line of the trail to deter jumping the fence to fish my pond. Hopefully, I have a jump on things and the hedge will be a good 4-5+ years old before they get around to building it next to me. I need to replace or repair the fence on that line, also. I have trespassing fishermen now, but can't imagine what will happen when they can practically pull right up to the pond. Anybody else ever have to change their entry point and block the old? Thinking of piling brush for now at the gate and dumping some scoops of brambles from another area I need to get them out of. Sadly, a lot of this work will also block some of the easiest areas for my wife to get access in her wheelchair mad

They did that here in Indiana many years back and it really opened up a nasty can of worms. It's history now.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

It aint never going away around here. Taxes fund it.. All trails are blacktopped with striping, Tunnels under highways and bridges over interstates, its a big money project all abandoned railroad tracks are converted to trail and some are right through peoples property..

I believe I would plant bois d'arc hedges all along it. I would also string some concertina wire.

Make the Game Warden aware of your concern.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Place(hide) a game cam close to where the poachers normally fish. These low-life types are invariably lazy and predictably stupid so will probably use similar entry exit points each time. When you get good pics PROSECUTE!! THEN get your local paper to post their photos...if this isn't your papers normal procedure they will usually do it if you ask them!! Good Luck Ken

ps There is nothing inherently bad about atv riders and off-road enthusiasts in general( I've been doing it responsibly since the Big Red) but just like any group of people there will always be some scum in the mix.
