When my CNBG hit 10-11+ inches they seem to get broader instead of longer??? 12 inch and 2lb is my goal - pushin' it but so far no go....

I took out 14 people today ice fishing and fished from sunup to sundown. Just 2 more days left of 2010! We caught some really awesome fish today: George, this lady isn't too far from your goal! This muskie hit a 2 inch fathead in 8 feet of water. This walleye bit a tiny black jig tipped with waxworm This trout was caught in 5 foot of water with a minnow This chipotle burger got me and made me want to take a nap at noon. Chef Todd came out and catered lunch for all the guys today! This green carp was in about 13 foot of water fished with a waxworm jigged about 2 feet off the bottom. We caught 6 crappie in the first 15 minutes and never caught another one the rest of the day: Here is the onslaught of monster bluegill pics:

Here's one of the HSB the better half and I caught at the pond today. 72 degrees and about a 20 MPH South wind. August 1, 2010 was the one year anniversary of their stocking as 2 inch fingerlings. They're a lot of fun on the ultra-lite with 6lb test. I'm looking forward to catching some on one of Georges "No Fail" pellet flies once I get a fly casting lesson. (Hint, hint George) As any good angler would tell you, the one in the photo was the smallest of the bunch. Happy New Year everyone!

We had mid 50's temps today and about an inch of rain. No way am I going to try and get on the ice. I only had 5" to start with (of ice ) and it's looking pretty treacherous now!

I'm envious of all the great fish you guys are catching! We haven't had enough ice for me to walk on yet, though my wife and kids enjoyed going out in the shallows of our small pond and were able to walk around a little bit without it cracking. Still, not frozen enough to try drilling and fishing, but too frozen to fish at all. Now, we've had two flippin' days in the 50 degree range with another coming tomorrow and the ice is melting pretty quickly, though the pond is still covered. We're just right at that place in the weather belt that we can't fish at all, dang it! Spent the day butchering a big doe I shot on Wednesday (yes, Scott, it was actually big! I didn't weigh her, but guessing she was pushing 160 pounds before field dressing her). I may just have to make a trip out to see Nate and get in on some of that good midwest ice fishing!

Nate, it looks like you had a heck of a trip today. Congrats.
Todd, good going on the big doe. I still have 2 days left for late archery. The front is supposed to pass thru about midnight, and the cool-down will start. I think tomorrow morning should be good. The wind will be better, but not best.
Todd, if you head out to Nates, swing by here on the way, or let me know when you're passing thru. It might be time for a short road trip.

Just catching up. Wow! There are some awesome fish being caught! Caught this one a few days ago when the ice was still safe. I am continually amazed at how quickly these fish have grown and how much fun they are. If you don't have HSB in your pond you are missing out (Scott)! Almost 18" Caught about 15 months after stocking at 6"-8".
