Here are some pics that tell the story of when Greg came to town. We met at Bass Pro so Greg could look at the lake and report to Dan Hoy with Bass Pro. Here is Greg's shock boat -- still on the phone. Here is an unexpected find --- uggh a bowfin -- how did that get here? This is more what was expected -- a skinny LMB . This is what we came for -- to shock up and move some 3-6 in BG to another pond. What do you notice first about this fish at a different pond ? Here is the skinny LMB at his new home. He and his friend Bowfin go into the Bass Pro tank.

That is one neat shock boat.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I blew that photo up great big, BM. It's either one of ewest's Redears, or really blurry.
Why the BG move? Coppernose transplant into another one of the ponds?

It is hard to see due to the pic quality. The first thing I see is the bright spot on its nose. That is what a CNBG male looks like during the spawn. That bright spot is even more visible than a redear's red ear flap.
We took BG out of the unmanaged pond (it will be drained to work on the upper end and dam). So we are salvaging some fish and moving them to the other ponds as needed. This batch of 200 BG went to the bigger pond.

Now I see, Ewest. That is one shiney copper nose! That looks like Remnants of an old oxbow, grinnell and all. That's in Pearl isn't it?

Burger that pond is not near the river (oxbows). That is why it was a shock. Someone had to put it there or it came in with a stocking.

These photos would make a really good Pond Boss story.
How big is the bowfin? Would that be considered a pretty big fish in relation to other bowfin in area ponds and lakes?
This should be a neat story to follow, as far as the renovation of the shocked lake.
On my computer screen that "bright spot" is easy to see.
Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.

My guess is the bowfin was about 4lbs. Not a big one. In the oxbows I have caught them up to 10 lbs. They will destroy your tackle.
Burger I should have reported that the pond looks like an oxbow in the pic because it is drained down to about 1/4 its normal size so the shallow end can dry prior to moving in equipment.

Thanks Eric for posting. If I can find the time I will post the pics of the client in Jackson prior to meeting you, pretty dang impressive. Bruce this is a typical day for me. I guess I take it for granted. Dave that boat is a step up from the other one you were on with me, wouldn't you say? The bowfin was 4.4 lbs. we have shocked them up to 10 lbs. Not sure what DOn did with him. The two bass were both 4 lbs but one was 18 inches and the other 20.5 so skinny and fat one. The CNBG bed pics did not showup that well but Eric has one cool place and I enjoyed the time he took to show it to me.
