Can I get a little education on the optimal stocking and breeding of BG. I have read several posts on stocking a pond with BG males only. Thanks for catching me up to speed.

Bump and questions for clarification. Are you interested in Male-Only BG or in stocking both sexes as is usually done (or both)? And are you primarily interested in BG as forage for bass, or as the goal themselves?

Both, forage for bass and for the kids to catch. I guess my question was about why you would stock only male BG. Then I found another thread close to this subject. We stocked CNBG, HBG and REB along with LMB, FHM, and CC two years ago in a 5 acre pond. Will I have to tweak the BG population at some point. thanks

Bottom line answer is because you would rather grow and catch a few very large BG than a large number of smaller BG. Note this would be in a situation where you did not want BG reproduction for bass forage base purposes.

Marlcat, You might want to consider subscribing to the magazine. As good as this website is the magazine is even better.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
