Hey all! Thanks for all the great wishes and ideas.
Ahh, you city dudes! That ain't no ground hog. And, it don't taste like chicken. The front shoulder, and especially the butt, are dead giveaways. That's a bare possum's bottom, if I've ever seen one! Tastes more like wild turkey, with the smooth texture of wild rabbit.
I did treat myself to lunch at the Sheetz (yes, Sheetz -- a local gas station chain found in South Central PA, Northern WV, Northern VA, and Western MD)! I had something from Todd's neighborhood -- a Clarksburg Pepperoni Roll and a Coke.
Time to go talk to the fishes.

I know about Sheetz...they have one near RDU. I stop there every time I'm headed to and from King Fisher. Good food, great system for a convenience store.
Not where I would want a birthday lunch, though. Much rather have a smoked raccoon sandwich with real mayonaisse, a side of thrice-boiled spring-time poke salad, a cathead biscuit and sweet tea.

Them cathead biscuits are at their very best when split in half, and stuffed with some very thin sliced Virginia Country Ham. If no ham is available, just a little honey in the middle!
Lynda makes tremendous cathead biscuits in a dutch oven.
You guys are making me hungry. We are about an hour away from joining another couple for dinner at a local WV eatery -- her birthday is the same as Lynda's, and his is the same as mine!
