Hey All,
Well I got this air system up and running GREAT about 5 weeks ago, but I don't know for sure when in the fall should I stop running it? We don't have freeze overs here very often, and if we do it may only be for a few days or a week at best. So with that said in general what should the air temps be around before I stop my diffusers for the winter? I have LMB, CNBG, RES.
Thanks,

Corey, you could stop in mid november, but if the electric bill is not an issue, you can safely run it all year on your nightly schedule. You have no danger of supercooling where you are.

Hey RM,
Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure and I didn't want to kill my fish from keeping my air on to long. So I guess you need to hit some pretty cold temps for a while for that to happen? I would just as soon leave it running now that I have it started, but I was afraid my water might get to cold.
Thanks and hope your feeling better dude,

If you're concerned about too much cooling, just place your diffuser about 4 feet shallower for winter. One easy option would be to dump part of your airflow to reduce your diffuser flow consideraby. Another option would be to simply shut it down for a few days if a long period of 36* or lower temps are forecast. I doubt your pond will ever have an issue though. Last year was pretty unusually cold there.

Yeah your right we hadn't had a winter like last year in a while. We get one like that about every 6 to 8 years it seems like. Thanks for the help.

Just my opinion of course, but I would shut it off once your pond temps drop into the upper 40's. I just don't see any benefit in running below those temps as there won't be much aerobic bacterial action going on, and of course there shouldn't be any shortage of oxygen in the water. So why pay an electric bill if you don't have to, along with wear and tear on the pump?
Please note I'm not saying Rex is wrong I'm simply saying this is my opinion.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Hey Cecil,
Thanks for the feedback. I would be more concerned about the wear and tear like you said not so much the 20 bucks a month. It's a couple months off yet so I will decide then but thanks for your input both of you. I appreciate you guys a lot!!
Many Thanks,
