I normally don't do skin mounts catfish as they are a PITA, but lately I've been taking them in as business isn't brisk. (Yeah if you want a big catfish mounted I can to it.) Anyway, look at the girth on this pig from a local pond. I was thinking it was eggs, but was puzzled as it's the wrong time of year to develop eggs. Turns out the pig's digestive tract was packed with brownish food of some kind. Not sure what it was, and it was so rank I decided not to probe much. It actually looked fiberous like vegetation, but could have been well digest fish as the pond is full of small bluegills. I don't think the owner feeds his fish in the pond but I will ask as I'm curious. The oviduct anal area that made me think initially it was a ripe female.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Scot, Thanks, that's right on for the fish coloration. I do have other pictures on my browser. The only good thing about them is they are about the easiest fish to paint and there are no scales to loose! Here's a replica I did for a customer a while back. A lighter in coloration smaller fish of course.

Hmmmm...I know Male CC get very dark blue/grey as they get large that's why I'm 99% sure Scotts CC is a male. Female CC should have spawned two months ago in early June in NE, would think Indiana is about the same time? I have caught CC with their stomachs packed with FA before...not sure if they were eating invertabrates in the algae or what, but it was literally stuffed just like this fish with FA. Could that be it?
