God gave each of us a mind to think and plan with also.

Being a DINK sounds great. I'm a SINK right now, and planning to be a DINK in a few years, when I'm around 28-30 (although I don't even have a girl picked out yet).

If you wait, you will wonder why you waited so long. The wife and I are both older than 30, I was 31 when we met. We are working on our second one right now, well not as I type, but you get the idea.

We don't plan on waiting too long... Just want to enjoy married life without children for a year or two.

Very wise choice Travis. Have your fun and when you're ready to become parents, you will be much less self centered in parenting.

My wife (ex now) & I got married at 35 & 40 (me) for the first time each.
We had been together for a couple of years so had already had a lot of
travel etc. We had our two boys when she was 37.5 & 40. Now they are
23 & 21 (working & senior in College) and really a lot of fun to have them
that young. Of course, if grandkids ever come (both boys are single) I'll
be kinda old, but at least my boys won't have to wait until they are 50+
before I die and leave them my vast fortune (one b&w TV, a shovel, and
3 golf balls).
My 3.5 cents worth (inflation) is to enjoy yourself now, because when the
kids come, your life and priorities will change - as they should!!!

Hey, Travis, I'm late chiming in on this thread, but a hearty congrats to you guys! Good idea to spend a couple of years together before kids if it works out that way. Tammy and I had about 3 years before we had our first and it was great time together during which we got to do a lot of fun things together. As Randy said in his post, though, priorities change when those little blessings come along, but they change for the right reasons.

I love the pics of your trip. My oldest brother and I flew our plane up to Machias, Maine (waaaaay up in the tip - the easternmost airport in the US) several years ago and spent the last hour down at about 500 feet cruising offshore by about a mile. It was incredible scenery and, once we were on the ground, the sight seeing we did was just as memorable. Your pics remind me of a lot of what we saw. We actually traveled up into Canada to Campabello Island and some of the pics I shot there remind me exactly of some that you posted! Campabello is on the Bay of Fundy and the tidal changes there are generally considered to be among the greatest in the world, approaching, I believe, 30 feet, so I'm not surprised you were seeing such huge changes where you guys were.

As others have already said, thanks for taking us along on the trip and congrats again to you both!

PS - here's one pic from my trip. The scenery ought to look pretty similar!

Todd:

If you get the itch to see some sights this way, here's the closest airport:

Plymouth Airport

I'm positive that it'll cost more than me driving to WVa, but it won't take 'near as long!

I can provide taxi service if needed. wink

Hey T

Just back from MT and saw this thread late too. Congratulations! My wife and I honeymooned in New England also, and we both loved Maine. I never thought I'd meet someone with the same shellfish appetite and myself, but you may have me beaten! Being from NE we rarely get a chance at truly fresh seafood - your photos made my mouth water...you know, the photos of the oysters and such. blush

I may take you up on that! And at about 2 hours flying time for me, definitely a bit quicker than your drive, though your Jetta beats my mileage by a long shot!

Rats...that's an apt riposte. Well played, dear sir. Give me a month and I'll come up with a dang witty reply.

Thanks for the warm wishes all... We did have a great time and look forward to being DINKs for a while. Save some money so I can buy the land to build at least a dinker pond of my own on.

I'm still a dink after 20 years of marriage but believe it or not the wife nor I feel any sense of loss for not having kids.

Wow I just love that country up there. And there is nothing like fresh seafood. We get the frozen kind here in the midwest and it's horrible compared to fresh!

When the salmon fishery collapsed the fishing towns were so desperate in Nova Scotia they offered to sell my dad an entire town! I would have offered to be the mayor as long as I could have kept a gone fishin' sign on my office door. grin I would have gone inland looking for big brook trout!

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Don't forget to make a stop by my place if you do this, Todd. Scott and I are less than an hour from each other. And, bring Scott with you (I haven't had the chance to meet him personally, yet). May as well try to get Cecil to come along, also (any other hoosiers?).
