If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Interesting - a review and synopsis of the Neff BG studies would be good to have.

Quote from Dr. Dave Willis: There is just no way to sugar coat this. The sex life of bluegill is X rated. Rowdy males are the culprits. The very best article I ever read about this subject area was written by our good friend Dr. Willis for Pond Boss Magazine several years ago: The Secret Sex Life of Bluegiil.

Cat -- it's amazing what lives forever because of the internet, eh? Actually, can't you just envision the influence on Bob Lusk's editing on that sentence! Ha!

BTW if anyone doubts how tough the world of a bluegill can be think about this: I had some bluegills that I put in my RAS that had been in a cage for the winter. Some were exhibiting exophthalmos (buggy eyes) most likely due to a nutrition deficiency. (They were left overs from a holding pond and weren't that well fed). For the ones that did not get over this condition I found them wondering the tank with their eyes pecked out!

Seriously, Cecil, there's no way my old-guy memory could answer that question from that long ago!!
