I want to jump start my pond again. My problem is that I cannot find a place in lower Michigan that has minnows for sale yet. I know that I can order from Anderson, but does anyone have any other ideas?

I have not seen any signs of any little ones that survived the winter, and I want to get some food in there to feed my Perch.

Call around. You can usually get in touch with RW from MI Wholesale Bait. They can get you what you want or have it arranged, Nice People!

Here is a list to start with:

Stoney Creek? Why not put enough pallets in the pond to spawn your own. Give them the habitat they need. I never stocked FHM after one time. I go end of the dock mid may and theres thousands of the and GS.

I need to get more pallets in. I plan on doing that this week. I think all of my minnows were cleared out. Should I see any sign of them yet? I was thinking I would start to see them in the shallows.

What is the water temp? Until the shallows get into the 50's, I usually don't see FHM.

Where are they then? Are they hanging out in deep water like the rest of the fish?

I am on my way this week to get a thermometer. Is a surface temp enough, or do I one that has a probe for deeper water?

Surf temp is usually enough. This early count on deeper water of 3-6ft to be 5-6 F cooler than surface in late afternoon. Early morning surface will be cooler due to night cooling. If you have LMB or SMB esp after they spawned once they probably cleaned out you your FHM. If is pretty difficult to maintain FHM with reproducing bass. GS are a little easier to maintain spawners yr to yr.

Like Bill said, they very well may be all eaten. However, if any are left they may be holding in deeper water until the shallows warm a bit more.

Coach,

Hi. Jones Fish Hatchery has minnows (shiners and fatheads) - Just got some this week. I think they deliver in your area as well. Pop them into Google and you should find their number.

Good luck!

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
