I have a once acre pond that I hope will soon be able to arerate if I want to. From what I have read I should be able to use about 2 cfm pump but can anyone tell me what their eletric bill runs with a air pump running 24/7?? Just so I kind of have an idea as to what to expect.

Thanks,

I use a DA1A from Aquatic-eco systems, inc. in my .89 ac pond 24/7. It only pulls 5 amps and im not sure i noticed a difference on the bill. Not sure bout your system.

Hey thanks guys. I was just wondering. I dont have a sytem yet but will soon I hope and was wondering how much it would give or take a few bucks. 29.00 bucks a month don't sound to bad. Thanks for the info Ted.

RC,

I was debating a similar situation with my new pond. While the cost wasn't too bad for running it now, electric in my neck of the woods has been going up a lot the last several years.

I was also looking at the initial cost to run electric several hundred feet to my pond, etc...

I decided that I would split the difference and go with a windmill from Outdoor Water Solutions. I figure in the long run it will be a lot more cost effective.

I know there are some mixed feelings about windmills versus the other systems. I see a lot of decent ponds around my area with nothing, and we have decent winds. So, I am thinking it will be a whole lot better than nothing and also cheaper in the long run moving forward.

I noticed a $30 jump running 24/7. For me easily offset by the reduction in chemicals needed significant improvement in water quality.

Hey thanks guys.

rcooked,

I have looked at windmills, but have heard time and time again that windmills are fine, but in the dead heat of summer when you really need it to work it won't cause there is no wind. And that does hold true here in Arkansas. Our summer months are hot and calm so I don't think that's the best way for me. Thanks for the info though.

Ryan,
Thanks for the input. It would seem so far that about 30 bucks a month is going to be close. And your right a bottle of chemicals can cost you 50 to 100 bucks just for one bottle. That's a good point for sure!

Why run it 24/7? You may not have to run it 24/7 and just put a timer on it. Also I understand there are windmills now that kick on the electric compressor if they stop.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
