I am finally ready to start building my pond. But I have a small creek running through my property were I want to build it. The problem is I put 6 feet pipe under my road for the creek to run through and the creek has about a 9feet drop from my yard level. I wanted to just dig around the creek and dam the back side up and let it fill up. But now I think the pond will back up and flood my road and I'm not sure if I can feed the bottom of the pond from the creek. I wondering if I should dam both sides of the creek. Any advise will help thanks!

Welcome bigcreek. A couple of questions that the "experts" will might want to know: what did you mean by "not sure if I can feed the pond from the bottom of the creek"? Is the existing creek bed going to be the bottom of the pond, and if so, the depth will have to be less than 9'? Roughly how large do you want this pond to be? Also, glad to see another Georgian on board - where in GA?
Just do it...

When I said bottom of the creek I meant when the pond fills the water level will be above the pipe that the creek runs through under our driveway. no the creek bed will not be the bottom I was going to dig it deeper and widen it out. I want the pond to be 2-3 acers. The main problem is the creek is so deep from years of cutting into the ground if I let the creek flow into the top of the pond the depth of the yard to the top of the water would be 6-7 feet.

Pictures would help us help you. An aerial shot with topo data will also help. Can you not just raise the drive way while your building the pond if you are concerned about water covering it?

Who are you using for building the pond? What are their thoughts? I have a builder down that way if interested, great guy. We can also design your stocking plan if you want to flip me an email. Good luck.
