Thinking about increased exposure...what are the most common questions lay-people like me come to this forum with? Just judging by the lists of forum topics, grass carp, skinny bass, chemical treatments, artificial cover and GSF (or maybe the GSF just takes over the conversation, I dunno), but I am just an observer, not one of the pro's that answers questions.
So what do you think are the most common pond management questions that this forum deals with?
Thanks! Skinny

Aquatic weed control, what to stock, leaking pond are the three other ones that come to mind.

I think from my brief time here it is mostly how to deal with problems, whatever they may be. The other segment is planning and construction. The rest are gsf lovers.

how about some specific questions or problems that come up...are there any specific trends that happen? controlling a particular weed? adding a particular kind of forage? The more specific the better.
My plan here is to get some more exposure to the site, and thereby more exposure to the pros that are active on the site. The more I can find out what people's specific goals are that land them here, the more i can see about how to get them here faster and more often. I don't know why i've adopted this pet project...I just have.

My immediate thought was that many of the thread titles will likely pop up quickly on the first page of a Google search. So, I tried the first ones that came to mind: skinny bass, pond leaking, stocking pond. No Pond Boss on the first page. Hmmmm...

Start with the Archives. It has a lot of arcane stuff. However, they seem to be the most frequently asked questions.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Hmmmm... ...and then I Googled Bruce Condello and Pond Boss came up #10 (and oddly, our LNP website came up #9)

That's odd Brettski.
When I googled Bruce Condello, I got 1987's Dental Hygienist of the Year Award come up as #1.

lol. that's awesome. 1987 dental hygenist...not sure why i find that funny but i do.
Yeah...yesterday when the idea of SEO for all you pond managers popped into my head i googled some of the top producing keywords, and the only one in the top 25 that I saw as nate in peoria (I'm in southern illinois, that might be catered to my location).
A bunch of dnr's came up, but that was about it.

The top billboard hit for 1987 was by George Michael. Coincidence? Let's think about it... They both are handsome They both have perfect teeth They both have great hair what am I forgetting...?

Don't try. It is what it is.
Dave is right - see the archives. If you think there is a topic missing (yes there are some missing) then post what you think is missing.

the skinnybass plan at this point is to gather info and come up with a plan ;).
There will definitely be problems, since I don't have executive control over the site. But...one thing that I know could help is to take the most common problems and name threads after them that will knock on the highest performing key phrases. The name of the thread translates to the <title> tag on the page, which is a fairly big deal.
Next I'd try to find who has administrative access to the site, and talk to them.
But for now it is still just....come up with a plan.

ahhhhhh....ok.... perhaps i could have phrased that better....by executive control, administrative access might have been better. You're right, that sounds shady. sorry 'bout that, not looking for a hostile takeover here.

ok, so my hostile takeover aside.... here's what i've gathered so far -aquatic weed control -fish stocking -leaking pond -skinny bass (then by my own observation) -chemical herbicides & pesticides -Artificial cover -Aquamax 2000 questions
any more? or would anyone like to make any more specific, like what kind of weed control is most common, which pesticides people are asking about, what kind of leak in a pond etc?

skinny, here are some additional (what i would think) are common search words or phrases:
fish identification fish kill(s) fish food/feeding dam construction fish structure aeration under aquatic weeds most people ask about "algae", "moss", or "scum"
just for a few more ideas.
GSF are people too!

My GoDaddy hosting account has some pretty sophisticated tracking and reporting criteria. One of them is the the top search phrases that bring peep's to our LNP website. Number three on the list is now Bruce Condello . Does this mean that I owe the guy money or something?
