Thought I'd upate my experience with the areation of my pond, since the winter began and the ice covered the surface;

I've lost one compressor to a bad bearing and replaced it with a .8 CFM 30 year old airbrush compressor. (so far so good)

I added an air drier to the line at the compressor. The 1/4 dia. air line has frozen up 4 times, twice after I added the air drier. I've cleared all the ice blockage by adding denatured alcohol, 20-30 cc at a time to the line.

My last freeze up was yesterday. I added the alcohol and it immediately came out of the line indicating the freeze up was just as the air line enters the ground. First time this happened in all the blockages. Seems to freeze after a warming spell , then back to freezing temps.

Although adding the alcohol is a quick fix, I'll be increasing the size of the airline by next winter.

A bigger air line should solve your problem, and maybe a little insulation around the line.
How's the level of your pond holding up?

AP,
The pond is at half pool, Given the lack of snow for the last couple of weeks the pond is doing pretty good. Not that I'm complaining, I love the snow, I just hate to have to move it.

I noticed the sides of the pond show some droppage in the water level, because they have a crack near the shore line in the snow. Over all it's been new experience keeping the ice open for the trout that made it through the summers heat.

The first few winters I let the pond freeze over, because I had lost all the fish during the summer months.
