Dude, watch a football game. While they last. What do you think I've been doing the past two months non-stop? The only bad thing about warm weather is that I'll be in football withdrawal for eight months. Though with the recent events of the Vols, it's more like a reprieve...

We look forward to playing you next season, that is if our coach doesn't have a health problem/nervous breakdown or whatever that was.

I was looking forward to the FL game until a week ago. I was favorably impressed by Dooley's press conference, and not quite so impressed by our AD who for the second time in fourteen months aimed for the infield with a hire.

Walt, you do know that Dooley was the recruiter who got LSU back to back #1 classes for Saban. Then Les Miles rode the wave. Not doing as well with his players.

I do know all of Dooley's resume; and, I was nothing but impressed with him in the presser. But he's anything but a proven commodity as far as a head coach; it's very possible, and I hope it happens, that he does fantastically at UT. My frustration, and that of most of the fan base, is that generally UT is considered a top-ten job in college football - a commentator for ESPN, on Around the Horn, said as much about three days ago, and the other four all agreed as though it were an obvious fact - and we shouldn't have to be settling for someone unproven, no matter how much upside and potential he may have.
When Bama was in this spot three years ago, just coming off probation and having been rebuffed by several coaches such that the media was lampooning them for it, their AD opened up the checkbook and got the best college coach in the country. UT has comparable financial resources to Bama, maybe more; we've got one of the three largest stadiums in the country, which is typically sold out for every home game; we still have more players in the NFL right now, in spite of the decline we underwent Fulmer's last few years, than all but a small handful of programs in Div. I; we're in the league that gets ten times the press and TV coverage of any other; there's not a team in the country with a more passionate and devoted (some might characterize it as mildly insane) fanbase. So we should have been able to get Muschamp or Patterson, or even Gruden. Muschamp, by most accounts, seriously considered it; but when they couldn't immediately come to terms, rather than not taking no for an answer and upping the ante, our AD wiped away his tears and got on a plane to go collect the next rejection.
I'll support Dooley, and I'm happy to see he seems to be a man of character unlike the carpetbagger we just were blessed to lose. But it's obviously a gamble, and that's what irks me, and most of the fanbase. Saban wasn't a gamble. We shouldn't have had to gamble.

Not sure what the water temp was today but air temp was 9 degrees last week. There was a salt impregnated worm on the hook that wound up in it's throat.

Really. College ball is SOOOOOO first week of January. Only if you live in marginal football state, like Ohio.

OK, let's talk some pro ball.
HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS?
Sorry, folks. Living in H town and seeing all the rag tag tattered ole CB jerseys and caps come out every few yrs. gets to me.
NFC game is tough for me. Saints fan from the beginning and will holler for home boy, Brett. No favorites, just hope they both play their best.

The boys didn't look too good. I think Troy was a little gunshy from the beginning.
