By chance, has anyone had experience in removing part of a tree from there pond? The tree is two foot in diameter and one foot below the surface. I need to remove just enough so my jon boat will clear. Thanks.

Welcome to Pond Boss.

Two foot diameter is a big tree!

I would think the only way to move it would be to get a chain around it and pull it w/ a motor vehicle if possible.

Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:"
"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

That sucker will be heavy. You might even need a heavier piece of equipment than a 4x4 truck.

thats a huge tree for being in a pond, is it water logged? I pulled out a water logged tree that was about a 8" tree at the base and it was all my 22 hp tractor that is a 4x4 could handle.
Once it surfaced and made it to the edge I had to pull it out a little bit then cut it in half. Good luck

Get a piece off pipe push it down around the tree, use bilige pumpe to empty the pipe, and then shave it off with a chainsaw

That's a tough one! I've got one that size that fell recently and blocked my "trail" up into my feeder creek. It's just going to have to stay there for the next 50 years I think. There's no way to get any vehicle (other than a canoe) anywhere near it and it would take 2 men and a large boy about a week to chain saw it. ;\)

It's too bad we can't get up into the creek any more but not worth the trouble.

In your case, if it was blocking my boat access to my whole pond, I'd think it was worth the trouble. Maybe you could consider using it as the foundation for a dock? Seriously, it will probably last longer than most docks anyway.

If you're too scared to throw that bait where the fish are, why did you tie it on?
