Thanks to all the Veterans out there for your service. Thank you for helping make the U.S.A. the best country in the world. May you have a very good day.
Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.

+3 I am not a veteran but my dad is and I have a keen interest in watching the military and history channels. It is a blessing to all of us the sacrifices that our veterans have made for our country.

+4 Not a veteran myself, but my brother is and is Airborne and Ranger tabbed. Perhaps that explains why it's dangerous to be near him when he's fly fishing.

I have the day off... It's rainy and ugly here thanks to Tropical Storm Ida. None the less, I will enjoy this day thanks to the many veterans who serve(d) this country!
As the saying goes, "if you can read, thank a teacher... Since you can read English, thank the military!"

My Veterans Day heros are my classmates that didn't make it back. "Bull" Weems Dickie Johnson Orland Pitts -and- 18 total from my high school, and all Veterans who gave their lives for our FREEDOM, are remembered today.

My father was a WW2 vet and proud of it. He was part of the occupational forces in Japan.
Thank all past, present and future members of our armed forces, without your service this county would not exist.
Off to a client's site, see ya all tomorrow.

My father was in the Canadian infantry, his uncle Joe was a tail gunner in a bomber. Joe came back shell shocked real bad, spent his remaining years in seclusion in a cabin in the woods of northern Ontario. Sad.
Remembrance day in Alberta is a government stat holiday, we do not work today, as it should be.

Yes today is a day of remembering, but it shouldn't be just this day. Without our vets and current millitary doing there job as we speak. We would be far, far worse off as a country. My Uncle was a field medic in Nam. He came home but was never the same. I guess he had one to many buddies die in his arms that he could do nothing about. He lived through all of that and then came back only to find out 10 years later he had cancer of the brain from all the Agent Orange over there being used. Got himself killed in Nam and didn't even know it.
Thanks to all who have raised there right hand to defend our country against all enimies forgien and domestic.

RC, never heard it put like that. Sadly, that pertains to many people that have been involved in past wars....

+11. Didn't have the day off. House payment is due. Officially I'm a vet as I served in the ANG for six years but I can't hold a candle to those that served active duty or in combat(although if you're in the NG today you might as well be on active duty and you have a damn good chance of serving in combat.) The old man who was a Green Beret served for 20 or 21 years. Retired as a MSGT. Not sure why he came back alive as he served on gunboats, in remote camps, climbed into VC tunnels, at least one POW rescue missions into North Vietnam, and on and on. He even invented a rocket launcher for choppers of which he didn't get the credit for. He has lots of medals but turned down the silver star when he was put in for it. I was looking at old pictures one day and recognized a man standing next to him in Vietnam. He didn't know who the guy was but since he was a reporter he didn't like him. I told, him that's Morley Safer of 60 minutes. Apparently Morley was a reporter in Vietnam before he got a job on 60 minutes. My dad is not impressed as he didn't trust the media as he said they would compromise a mission in heartbeat to get a story. If anyone is interested I may try and find the picture again and scan and post it.

No day off here but it was a beautiful sunny day to enjoy and give thanks to all the patriots who served, and to some buddies who didn't make it back. Too bad many of our politicians don't realize the importance of serving your country with honor.

. Too bad many of our politicians don't realize the importance of serving your country with honor. Many of them wouldn't dream of serving their country that way. That's up to us lower and middle class folks I guess. I know of one that got five deferments during Vietnam but it was O.K. for you to go AP.

Closed my law practice for the day - as we do every year for Veteran's day - and gave a lot of thought to the sacrifices of those who have given of themselves for our country. Tried to impart a little lesson to my kids, ages 4, 7, and 10, so they'd understand what it is all about. I come from a military framily and would have served myself but for a high school knee injury that prevented me from being able to join the Army via ROTC. It's the one biggest regret I've had in my life and makes me appreciate the service of others all that much more.

Service in WWII changed my life. I volunteered as an 17 year old kid, inducted at 18, and came out a man.

George, my Dad left for Europe and Africa when my Mother was 3 months pregnant. He returned to see me for the first time when I was 18 months old. MY Wife's Uncle was in Europe for quite a few years, 4 or 5 I think, and never got home until the war ended. No rotations home in those days.
Compared to lots of guys, my 4 years was a cake walk.
