I finally had some water accumalate a few weeks ago, I have a great runoff. The gauge said we got 2.5 inches which in return added 6ft of water in my 1/4 acre pond. I had structure already and waiting for some water to arrive. I have now started to stock perch from an area lake. I have added 150 perch ranging from 4 - 6 inches and 2 LMB arond 1.5 lbs. After a week or so I have now noticed a green mossy slime developing on the surface across half the pond already. Is this normal and will settle or am I in for some corrective action already? More rain predicted this week will that dissapate the green stuff and go away? I've delt with duck weed in the past before it was dried up and cleaned out and enlarged, hope to not go through that again at such a early stage. The pond is in texas and now is only around half full. Thanks Cliff www.bigfishcliff.com

You should not develop duckweed in a new pond. Duckweed usually occurs in older very nutrient rich ponds. Can you better describe the "green slime". Is it only on the surface? Is it a filmy very thin surface scum? Is it at all stringy displaying fine strands if it is put in a dish of water?

It appears to be a thin layer of green slim on the surface right now. And sorta clinging and collecting to the structure. The wind has blown it at one end, until the wind dies out and it covers over half of the new water in the pond. Im not liking the looks of it already. I will try to get a picture tommorrow if I get home in time and post it.
Thanks Cliff
