a little humor:
How many internet forum members does it take to change a light bulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.
27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs.
53 to flame the spell checkers
41 to correct spelling/grammar flames.
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"...another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp".
15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.
156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy".
109 to post that this group is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb group
203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb group about changing light bulbs be stopped.
111 to defend the posting to this group saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this group.
306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty.
27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.
14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's.
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group.
33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too".
12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.
19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three".
4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ.
44 to ask what is a "FAQ".
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs".

That right there is some very funny observations. Keep in mind the light bulb is the least efficient invention ever made and that we all use compact fluorescents wherever we can right?. It may take a while for cartoonists to get the idea...
In all seriousness I worked in a lighting company for a few years and couldn't believe how much there is to know about something we all think of as simple. The new technology in both compact fluorescents and the "T8" or "T5" tubular lamps use far less electricity. Remember that these CFLs are fluorescents and as such have all different color spectrums, 2500K, 3500K 5000K etc. so I hate to hear that people dont use them because they dont want the "white" light they give off. There's all different varieties. Best use is for fixtures that are on for extended periods of time, and you need a special CFL for a dimmer switch. More money but they last far longer and you save on electricity. Sorry for the rant but if everyone changed out just one bulb in their house...

On this forum it would be taken off topic after the 2nd or 3rd post.
Jeff would make a joke about it, CJ would tell us about their use in night fishing and George would show us how to tie a fly by one.
The beauty of the forum is nobody takes too much of what anyone else says to seriously.
The most civilized forum I have ever been a part of.
But, I think that Lusk guy is responsible for a large part of it.

No, no Tom, you have it all wrong. Bob Lusk owns the lamp and pays the electricity bill.
It's the moderators job to change the light bulb and make sure they are the correct wattage. Changing the light bulbs is a significant responsibility. After all some bulbs burn a little brighter than others so the moderators constantly have to look at each and every bulb and ask themselves, is this bulb bright enough for this room?
And then you have guys like Brettski, that go around and changes the white bulbs to red bulbs. So they really, really have to watch him.
But it ain't all bad. Sometimes a guy like Dwight will make a post about a lamp that he built in his shop. He'll take a milk carton, a piece of string and an apple core and builds this really incredible lamp. It has perfect wiring and could withstand a tornado.
But then again you'll have guys like Yolk that says he loves white bulbs and blue bulbs but he hates green bulbs. I mean who on earth could hate green bulbs? That is just unnatural.
And then really, really, intelligent people that love green bulbs are put on the defensive and have to form an organization to protect green bulbs from slander and abuse. Like the green bulb lovers have nothing better to do than chase around heretics!
And then someone will post a question. Something like, "I have this chandelier that has sockets for six bulbs, but I'm thinking about wiring in 11 extra bulbs, what I do you think?
And the expert will answer, "It depends." What to you want to do with this light? Ultimately, do you want two or three huge flood lights or would you rather have 17 L.E.D.s? Do you want soft natural light or some really bright light. Have you ever thought about blue light or yellow light or even purple light? Do you want the light to come on automatically or are you going to manually use a switch? Tells us more about your chandelier.
And then someone posts and says "do you have any photos of your chandelier? We like chandelier photos!
And then someone else makes a post and says "I'm can't believe you suggested the use of yellow and purple lights. Yellow lights don't cast any where near enough illumination for this room. You should only use Silvania Blue Dot bulbs in this pond.
And then another person will write "Speaking of monkeys, did you watch that special on the Discovery channel last night? It was all about Spider Monkeys."
So to answer your question Tom, no, Bob doesn't change the bulbs himself.
