We wandered into Wally World tonight and they were closing out a lot of their summer stock. We really prefer grilling with charcoal, but we've missed the convenience of a gas grill ever since our last one died. We bought a slightly banged up and dented floor model stainless steel grill for less than half the retail price ($200 vs. $499).

This model doesn't have the built-in kitchen sink and refrigerator, but it has an "infrared back burner." The manual tells us how to light it, and it says we should not try to re-light it for at least five minutes if it goes out unexpectedly. But, it tells us absolutely nothing else about using it. Does anyone know what it is for and how to use it?

Nope! But, it looks similar to a catylitic heater. Does the gas come out behind it and filter thru, making the front glow hotter 'n he.. instead of burn with a flame?

A ceramic catalyst burner is exactly what it is! Same as on the "Buddy" brand propane heaters.

It's for roasting a chicken,or large hunk of meat more quickly. vs. the old grinding rotisserie. I have never had one, but I know that is what it's for.

Well it's nice to know that you're roughing it. \:D

Yeah, we roughed it today. We had about 30 guests over this afternoon for a catfish fry, plus burgers, hotdogs, and sausages. Had three nice catfish and a dozen bluegill that I cut up into "fingers" that we beer battered and deep fried in peanut oil. It is amazing how fast about 10 lbs. of fish nuggets can disappear.

Also, thanks to the others about the catalytic heater. I guess I'll need to get a rotisserie so I can try out that feature.

Happy Labor Day!

Nope. Stainless Steel and Chrome are two completely different critters.

I've tried several of them. The burners seem to go before anything else. I generally get 3 or 4 years out of one.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Only in Texas are Cornish Game Hens big enough to fit a beer can inside.

I believe that my grill was a grill in a former life. Here is what it looked like, when Broderick Crawford was driving his Buick Roadmaster, before it's grill was recycled re-incarnated into a different kind of grill.

Good grillin'
Ken

That used to be called a 4 hole Buick. It was more expensive than the 3 hole ones. I never saw one used as a cop car.
