Nate, I’m pumped ... I christened my new TFO Mini-Mini Mag this morning with a 4+ lb Hybrid Striper from our ¼ acre pond …. 3 inch chartreuse Spinster.

Fishing for pure Florida LMB that I’m growing out for transfer to main pond but rather catch the hybrids – they are a blast.

First fishing of the season - a few 9 inch and 2, 10 inch CNBG but still immature for heavy weights - no more pictures unless 11 inch or better ....
Lowest near surface water temp so far at 80 degrees so season is OPEN!!!

Nate you gotta catch your fish on a fly rod from now on or they don't count .... \:\/

No pics because I wanted to get it transferred quick, but I caught an 18" LMB this evening while fishing for GSH. He (she?) was skinny at only 2.82#, but I'm sure it'll fatten up in the pond. I tagged it (Greg's Floy tags) before I released it in the pond.

Todd Overton is now a dealer for Temple Fork Outfitters as well as a forum supporter and PB magazine advertiser.
Give Todd a call and he will fix you up.
They have a new Mini-Mag combo set now with rod, reel, line and case for a very affordable price.

Thanks F-H - water looks good from what I can see of it.

I'm guessing:

1. Female BG
2. SMB
3. a. FHM?
b. BG

How'd I do?

New pond record at my place, cheap spring scale showed over 4 lbs and as long as my arm from elbow to tip of hand. Pics kinda skewed, its tough taking pics of your own fish when you wnat to get them released back in the water. I sure need to get a good scale and fish ruler I had to drag it out of the weeds, hence the mud. Stocked in '06 as fingerlings.

J3, nice! His tail looks too small for his body.

So measure from the end of your hand to your elbow and tell us what that is.

WOW! Either you have piles of baitfish in that pond or they are just gorging themselves on pellets... Those are some fat trout! How long was and how much did the one your grandfather caught?

morbidly obese is how I would classify them! The trout gorge themselves on pellets as well as plenty of natural forage. Gpa's was 19 inches and just about 4 lbs.

She was caught free lining a live 3.5 inch bluegill as bait. We were trying to get a big HSB. Its pretty sad when your anticipating a big HSB battle and your disappointed when you catch and crank in a pesky trout. (i was, not gpa)

I tell you what though, my gpas trout looks like something you would catch out of lake michigan, not a small lake in central illinois. I would have loved to release that fish due to its unbelievable trophy genetics and aggressive behaviour, but I could tell that fish was more important to Gpa than it was to me.
