1. BG went in Spring of 2003. I am very sure he is not an original stocker, so he could have been spawned in 2004, 2005, etc.

2. Ask Bruce how long it takes him to grow one that size and add a year or maybe two.

That sounds about right to me. The fish is in fantastic body condition - his head is pretty small for his body, so I wouldn't think it's an old fish. I'm guessing three years old, max.

What say ye, Bruce?

Oarhouse?

Theo, can you describe the actual color?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Red and white.

If you meant the BG, he was indeed very dark.

He was completely pale by the time I got him to the second pond for release there, 5 minutes or so.

Thats a heckuva beautiful fish TG.

Now, can someone define the purpose of an "Oarhouse"? I think Brettski could hit this one over the fence...Jhap?

Honey, I'm headed out to fish the pond, then I'll be stopping by the Oarhouse for a while...

It's a special place where someone goes if they desire to participate in some flocculation.

....or if they want to get paddled.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Tried out fishing on a pier the other day. Second time I had been out there, just a nice day. Only caught 1 mackerel and this 1 yellowfin croaker, but man was the croaker tastey.

Nice bass from my Dad's northern Iowa pond. 21" exactly.
The best strategy I have for catching big fish is to go out fishing for management/cull fish. Friday night we spent 45 minutes fishing and caught a 19.5", 20", and a 20.5" LMB. This fish was caught Sunday morning, after some work and switching lures to avoid the big bass I did catch some of the 10-15" bass that got relocated to another pond on the property.

Added a couple other photos for fun.

The house from across the 1.7 acre pond:

more pond timber. still standing after being flooded in 1978.

Pack of dogs. Any guesses on what we hunt?

Very nice! That bass looks quite healthy, the house looks great and those dogs are adorable! I bet they love their bird hunting...

I am guessing pheasants?

Nice looking Springers! I'll take a stab and say whatever flies, but you really like Chinese Roosters!

Here's a couple from the pond tonight. Both were 9" and 13 oz.

Here's a pic of the 3 that are gone now. The middle one is the mother of the one on the right.

MikeyBoy, nice picture. Don't let that gut get away from you at such a young age. Maybe get a belt too.

csteffen, looks like you guys are doing some nice work at your pond.

Not to hi-jack an excellent thread but pictures need to be re-sized in order to appreciate them.

Ok on my 20 inch monitor but drives me nuts on laptop - maybe I'm just nuts ...
Doesn't help photos to see only portions or scroll to read.

Where is the pixel police when we need them?
