Nate those are all trophy fish and that catfish looks really healthy. What is the largest hybrid you have caught so far?

Eric, yes it was a one fishing rod trip. I was worried to death he was gonna go for a swim and I was desperately trying to make sure he caught fish to keep him entertained. There was no way I could even think about fishing and make sure he was safe and catching fish. I figured this was good practice for my future children some day... His mom says he's done nothing but talk about fishing since going so I think it was a success.

Nate, those rainbows are gorgeous! When were they stocked and at what length? How big were they in those photos? Those other fish are spectacular as well! You really have put together some great fishing waters!

Omaha, he got poked right before I snapped the pic!
James, 8 lbs is the largest hybrid to date! You do indeed need to harvest the snot out of them catfish!!!
CJ, rainbows were stocked in OCT of 2008 at 10-14 inches, Average size right now is 18-22 inches.

Surprised he held on. I think most kids, adults for that matter, would have dropped the fish.

When your good and ready, shoot me your best bluegill pic and I will be working in the mean time on one myself! We will let the public decide the winner.

Think he's got you on that one, Nate. Unless you've developed a top-secret strain of CNBG that laugh at those Illinois winters...

Boy, do I love Male-only BG as a bonus fish!
[Concept Credit: Condello and Cody]

I also believe I like having a great big bunch of Gambusia for them to eat. In addition to the weight gain, I'm becoming convinced that being accustomed to catching small forage fish akes them more likely to hit artificial lures. I caught these two Males tonight on a small in-line spinner bait. A 10 incher:

and my new personal record, and 10 1/2 incher:

Both of these BG were transferred from my main pond last year. The 10 1/2" one has grown at least an inch since then, in addition to bulking up notably.

Nate eight pounds is monstrous out of a pond! What is the opinion of the group on what size you would consider mounting a hybrid striper?

James,
I will mount my first 10 lb HSB! I think you will see a dramatic improvement in your gamefish feeding as you eliminate those catfish. keep plugging away at them.

George,
I actually have stocked 1000's of CNBG up here. I have been duped by pretty much every fish scam artist out there, but let me just say that I have learned from all of my mistakes. I'm still all for a little North vs South BG photo competition!!!! Give us your best shot 'ole man! No time frame, just when you get around to catching behemoth I want to see the perfect photo!

Theo, I will let you in on the photo competition, but your going to have to do much better than a hand and a fish!

Not sure but at the rate mine are going it will be soon. Stocked them last Dec at about 1 lb. One was caught in Aug at 3.75 lbs. They like TShad and AM 600.

I try and post the purty pics, not the clinical shots.

I also know better than to compete against the likes of Condello, Galzener, Matos, and Los Hermanos Herman. ;\)

Nate you may recall I stocked 300 adult male CNBG last fall and growth was phenomenal by spring 2009.

Water cooling to low 80’s so should begin fishing soon.
I’ll post some pictures for ‘ya.
My CNBG ONLY compete against each other.
Photos below are typical examples – should have many over 11 inches and 1.5 lbs by now.

George, I want the impeccably flawless shot of you or your bride or your grandson holding up leviathon with a picture perfect background and a big 'ole grin from ear to ear. I just figured a competition would be a good way to steer you towards my agenda, but if changing from a competition to simply a quest accomplishes this, than so be it. Regardless, I want you to create the "Perfect Fishing Picture"

I dont want any rulers, tapes, buckets, hands, condello techniques, sloppy backgrounds, etc. I want the cover of Pond Boss picture! And I know that you are the man that can get this done.

Nate, will this one qualify until I get a better photo?
