hello guys well i had a chance to check out my pond today. to my amazement there are tons of fish but they have an orange tint to them. more than a month ago we put a couple of pounds of minnows and they seemed to disappear. we never stocked it with anything else. i do know there are a few sunfish because i visually saw them. not sure how many but couldnt be much. i am guessing that they were mixed in with the minnows. anyways i was wondering what fish these may be? they were everywhere and i saw a big orange ball a couple of feet down and it looked like bigger fish just huddled up. thanks guys i will try to post a pic if needed

A close up pictue would be very helpful. Try to catch/net some of the small orange fish.

lol well guys i guessed i kinda freaked out. i finally got around to asking my cousin what type of minnows he put in there and he told me he bought some from the local bait shop that were orange. lol i guess those are just the offspring from the minnows. i figured he would by the natural minnows but i guess he decided not too. sorry guys. lol thanks bill

I found this guy on my floating island yesterday, I am not sure how it got up there, either it jumped or a heron was out on it and grabbed it then realized it couldnt eat it or something. I put a dozen in last year around this time to see if my pond would sustain fish life. They were the large size about 2" long when I threw them in. I am down to 10 of them now. I think he is a little bloated giving it that heavy belly look.

walboknls1,
They may be rosy red fatheads. They're commonly sold for bait.
Edit: Fatheads have tiny scales. Goldfish have larger scales.

My gold fish did indeed spawn sometime ago as now I have several 2" off colored or patchy gold fish hanging out at the surface. Should I be concerned about gold fish over population? I threw in some catfish last year but I havent seen them, would they be a predator towards the gold fish and bigger FHM?
Reason for asking about the CC is I dont think my RES or my HBG will be big enough to take care of the offspring of the goldfish.
