Last night was the best fishing I've had yet this year! It was the most BG action I have seen since I lost so many big ones last Winter under the ice. The BG are getting ready to spawn; I caught 3 gravid females (2 pretty nice) and this 9 Inch big Bull (who got moved to my SMB/YP/RES as a bonus fish): The LMB were also very aggressive last night. I can easily tell which ones are really into eating Aquamax Largemouth pellets - they look like they may be football shaped by football season. This 17 Incher weighed 3 lbs 6 oz - not much by Greg Grimes standards, but in much better condition than another last night that only weighed 2 lbs 11 oz and was 18 Inches long.

2 beauties, Theo. Glad things are looking up. Man, that big helmet would have made a good fillet. Maybe after the spawn.

Theo, great looking fish. How old do you think that 17" bass is?
Just do it...

I do not believe it is one of the original stockers (2003). My best guess is that it is from the first LMB spawn in 2005 - 4 years old. But that's just a guess.

What's up with the BG's tail? It looks a wee bit ragged.

Theo, you really need to work on your Condello Photographic Technique.

Theo, you really need to work on your Condello Photographic Technique. Spoken like a Green Sunfish. P.S. Has Bruce ever photographed a bass bigger than a barn door?

Shorty.............that is huge! It took up my whole monitor for just the head. It appears that you have taken the Condello photo technique to a whole other level! WOW!

That's just a cropped image, here is the original picture from which that giant HBG head was cropped. The camera is a Sony Steady shot, 8.1 megapixal with a 10x zoom. I did use the zoom to take the original picture while my buddy was sitting in the front of the boat 10-12 feet away.

Woohoo! This 9.5 Inch bad boy is a triple first for me: 1st fish on a new rod & reel, 1st BG caught in my new pond, and 1st BG ever caught on a lure (curly-tailed grub on a 1/16th oz jighead) He is one of 15 BG I put in my SMB-YP-RES pond last year as the first year class of Bonus Male BGs.

So we're out at the lake yesterday and there are bullfrogs everywhere. Heavy algae. So I'm flipping my bullfrog lure and just for the fun of it, toss it by these bullfrogs. They went at them like they hadn't eaten all year. I had no idea bullfrogs were cannibalistic.

that is one violent looking fish.
I doubled with ya, Omaha. Other bullfrogs are favorite snacks of bullfrogs.
